The North Royalton Bears faced off against league rival Medina in league play on Saturday, January 11th falling to the Bees 2-1. The two teams battled hard through the first two periods with both teams each having solid chances but neither being able to find the back of the net thanks to solid goaltending from both teams. The Bears net minder, Tyler Roesch, played his best game of the season for the Bears stopping 34 of the 36 shots he faced. North Royalton entered the final period with the man advantage but it was Medina that struck first, scoring shorthanded just 8 seconds into the 3rd. Medina took a two goal lead midway through the 3rd period but North Royalton was able to respond just minutes later when Branden Walsh buried a brilliant feed from Michael Dzoba; Aaron Schmitt was also awarded an assist on the goal. North Royalton had thought they had the equalizer banging in a loose puck in the crease with just over four minutes left in the game only to have the goal waved off by the on ice officials. The loss drops the Bears league record to 5-3, a mark they will look to improve upon when they skate against the Euclid Vikings on January 16th at Orr Arena in Euclid.
