SENIOR NIGHT SUCCESS

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 22, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Trumbull Eagles secured a much needed 5-4 win over the Wilton Warriors this past saturday.  THS improves to 5-11-1 with three games remaining.  It was fitting that on Senior Night, it would be those seniors that delivered the Eagle victory.  Senior, Brian Sarosky scored a hat-trick and seniors, Matt Bragano and Derek Dimasi landed goals of their own to round out the scoring.  Bragano added an assist on Sarosky's first goal.  Senior, Stephen Anrico made 22 saves between the pipes.  Trumbull must win all of their three remaining games to qualify for an eighth straight visit to the CIAC State Tournament.  THS will host Norwalk (02/24 4:00pm) and Immaculate (02/25 8:30pm) and finish the season on the road against East Haven (03/02 7:30pm DiLungo Rink).

EAGLES LOOK TO REBOUND IN SECOND HALF

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 2, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Trumbull skaters ended the halfway mark with a 2-7-1 record.   The Eagles dropped five division 1 games but it was a Watertown (D3) tie and losses to Westhill (D2) and Stamford (D2) that have backed THS into a corner.

The Eagles need to find six more wins in their next ten games if they hope to make the CIAC D2 State Tournament.  THS has qualified for post season play for the past seven seasons.  The good news is that the schedule lightens up a bit but there are still a number of tough outings including D1 opponents Trinity Catholic, Immaculate and East Haven.

INJURIES HIT EAGLES HARD

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 14, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Trumbull has been hit with injuries early in the 2008-2009 season.  Junior, Michael Madden ruptured his spleen in a fluke accident and will be out for the season.  Michael is a solid two way player and reliable penalty killer for Trumbull.

Freshman, Michael Ahearn was starting to come into his own and playing solid minutes for the Eagles.  One practice after scoring his first goal and receiving "Player of the Week" honors, Michael broke his wrist during a scrimmage and will be out for six weeks.  The Eagles hope to have the talented forward back in the line up for the post season.

Leo Veres missed some practice time and one game due to tendon pain in his hand but returned to the line up for the Trumbull / Darien match up.
