EAGLES QUALIFY FOR TOURNAMENT!

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 5, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Eagles improved to 8-7-0 and qualified for the CIAC DII State Tournament with their 3-0 victory over New Milford.  Seniors, Andrew Kelly and Johnny Pritts each had a goal and an assist while Trumbull's leading scorer, Michael Ahearn (16 pts) scored his 9th of the season.  Andrew Vietze was the backbone of the Trumbull defense with solid support from the Elbert brothers, Dale and Brandon.  Goaltender, Chris Sarosky was rock solid in net making a number of great saves and recording his second shut-out of the season.

After missing the tournament last year, the Eagles have made it their mission to return to the post season.  The Eagles have qualified for the tournament eight of their last ten seasons including trips to the CIAC DII semi-final, a DII final and a DI semi-final.

EAGLES 5-5-0 AT THE HALF

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 21, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

At the halfway point of the season, the Trumbull Eagles sit at 5-5-0.  They will need to find three more victories in their next ten games to secure a CIAC play-off spot.  This will be no easy task with the toughest part of their schedule on the horizon.

The THS defense as been solid with young blueliners (Watson, Elbert & Dufficy) coming along nicely.  The goaltending tandem of Chris Sarosky and Matt Paolini have given the Eagles a chance to win most nights and are only getting stronger.  The forwards have had some trouble burying the rubber but when they skate hard and move the puck they're capable of doing some damage.  Sophomore, Michael Ahearn currently leads the team in scoring with 6 goals and 11 points.

BIG WEEK FOR UNDEFEATED EAGLES

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 3, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Eagles seem to be flying under the radar despite starting the season with a 4-0-0 record and are one of only three CIAC DII teams that remain undefeated.  Two of Trumbull's first four wins have come against DIII teams but they seem to be moving in the right direction.

THS has a big week ahead with the Immaculate/New Fairfield Co-op and Westhill on the schedule.  Immaculate is a DI program but has struggled thus far with a 0-3-0 record.  FCIAC rival, Westhill is playing solid hockey and sits just ahead of Trumbull with a 4-1-0 record. The Eagles have a great opportunity to move up in the standings, grab power points and earn some respect around the league.

NO POST SEASON FOR THE EAGLES

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 28, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Trumbull Eagles finished the season with a 3-0 loss to the East Haven Yellow Jackets and for the first time in seven years, did not qualify for post season play with a 6-13/1 record.   Trumbull showed flashes throughout the season, their inconsistancy was their undoing.

The THS winter sports banquet will be held on wednesday 03/18 7:00pm in the THS common area.
