THS REBOUNDS WITH ROLLER COASTER WIN
Trumbull and Enfield exchanged goals all game but it was Michael Ahearn and the Eagles that scored the last and most important goal of the night. Ahearn's goal was scored in dramatic fashion as he was hauled down by two Enfield defenders in the final few minutes of the game. From his knees, he was able to control the puck and beat the Warrior goalie for the game winner. Trumbull won by a score of 6-5.
The line of Ahearn (2g & 1a), Walker (1g & 1a) and Dimasi (1g & 2a) supplied the offense while the defensive pairing of Pierson and Elbert was rock solid. Freshman, Vincent Russello had two assists including the pass on Ahearn's winner.
Trumbull will face Branford (1-1-0) next wednesday (12/22) at Northford at 6:00pm. For updated High School scores and standings click on the above headline.
EAGLES OPEN WITH 3-2 LOSS TO WATERTOWN
Apparently the Trumbull Eagles left their game on the bus, allowing a goal on the very first shift of the game. Watertown continued to keep Trumbull boxed in their own zone and built a 3-1 first period lead. The Eagles eventually settled in and began moving the puck more effectively but failed to score the elusive goal they needed. A shaky start and failure to convert on numerous third period power plays were the Eagles' undoing. THS out shot W/P 41 to 29 but could not seem to capitalize on their chances. With the goalie pulled, Michael Ahearn scored to make it interesting. Ahearn and Max Walker each had a goal and an assist.
Trumbull will face Enfield HS in their home opener this saturday at 6:00pm at The Rinks in Shelton.

EAGLES FINISH 9-11-0
Although Trumbull is tournament bound, they finished the season with a fizzle. With an opportunity to make the final spot of the FCIAC tournament and secure home ice advantage for the CIAC tournament, the Eagles dropped their last two games of the regular season. A 3-2 loss to Stamford kept Trumbull out of the FCIAC tourney and a 3-1 loss to Fairfield on "senior night" will put the Eagles on the road for the first round of the state tournament.
