THS REBOUNDS WITH ROLLER COASTER WIN

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Dec 18, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Trumbull and Enfield exchanged goals all game but it was Michael Ahearn and the Eagles that scored the last and most important goal of the night.  Ahearn's goal was scored in dramatic fashion as he was hauled down by two Enfield defenders in the final few minutes of the game.  From his knees, he was able to control the puck and beat the Warrior goalie for the game winner.  Trumbull won by a score of 6-5.

The line of Ahearn (2g & 1a), Walker (1g & 1a) and Dimasi (1g & 2a) supplied the offense  while the defensive pairing of Pierson and Elbert was rock solid.  Freshman, Vincent Russello had two assists including the pass on Ahearn's winner.

Trumbull will face Branford (1-1-0) next wednesday (12/22) at Northford at 6:00pm. For updated High School scores and standings click on the above headline.

EAGLES OPEN WITH 3-2 LOSS TO WATERTOWN

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Dec 15, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Apparently the Trumbull Eagles left their game on the bus, allowing a goal on the very first shift of the game.  Watertown continued to keep Trumbull boxed in their own zone and built a 3-1 first period lead.  The Eagles eventually settled in and began moving the puck more effectively but failed to score the elusive goal they needed.  A shaky start and failure to convert on numerous third period power plays were the Eagles' undoing.  THS out shot W/P 41 to 29 but could not seem to capitalize on their chances.  With the goalie pulled, Michael Ahearn scored to make it interesting.   Ahearn and Max Walker each had a goal and an assist.

Trumbull will face Enfield HS in their home opener this saturday at 6:00pm at The Rinks in Shelton.

It took an overtime goal from Shaun Kennedy but the Trumbull Eagles (#13) were able to pull off another upset over Avon HS (#5) on their way to the CIAC DII Semi-Final.  Despite some excellent goaltending from Chris Sarosky, the Eagles were trailing 4-2 in third. Senior, Johnny Pritts scored twice to tie the game.  Trumbull started the ot period down a man but got excellent penalty killing from Alex Hyde and Michael Madden with Sarosky proving to be unbeatable. With his second assist of the night, Michael Ahearn was able to spring Kennedy for the game winner. Andrew Vietze and Trevor Saggese also scored and Charles Genster, Brandon Elbert, Cory Watson and Shaun Kennedy each added assists.

EAGLES FINISH 9-11-0

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 24, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Although Trumbull is tournament bound, they finished the season with a fizzle.  With an opportunity to make the final spot of the FCIAC tournament and secure home ice advantage for the CIAC tournament, the Eagles dropped their last two games of the regular season. A 3-2 loss to Stamford kept Trumbull out of the FCIAC tourney and a 3-1 loss to Fairfield on "senior night" will put the Eagles on the road for the first round of the state tournament.
