DIMASI DELIVERS!

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 30, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The 7-4-0 Fairfield Mustangs were riding a five game winning streak when they ran into the Trumbull Eagles.  The Eagles, struggling for quality wins and goals- got both!

AJ DiMasi had an all-time night, notching 6 of Trumbull's seven goals.  His performance tied the team record for goals in a game shared by Anthony Criscuolo '04 and Cody Lee '94. DiMasi did have some help as fellow linemate, Nate Walker, scored a goal of his own and assisted on four of DiMasi's six.  Matt Paolini was fantastic, turning back 48 of the Mustang's 52 shots.  The Eagles earned a very solid 7-4 victory.

EAGLES IN A HOLE AT THE HALF

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 21, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Trumbull Eagles have struggled through the first half of the season with a record of 2-8-0.  Although there have been some flashes, the THS skaters have been extremely inconsistant.  An inexperienced defense is learning on the job and goals aren't coming easily.  Trumbull will have to improve (and hopefully get some injured players back in the line up) as the second half brings the toughest part of the schedule. image

LEADERSHIP

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 12, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

With a young team, leadership is extremely valuable. The Trumbull Eagles will look to seniors AJ DiMasi, Sean Gallagher and Matt Paolini to take the lead during the 2012-2013 season.  All three played key roles in the Eagle's championship run last season and understand the work ethic needed to be successful both on and off the ice.

The Trumbull Eagles earned their first win of the season with an overtime victory over Branford at the Harbor Yard Arena.  The two teams played in the holiday classic last year and met again in the state finals. The Eagles came from behind to win both games last season and did so again in this year's rematch.  Luke Bolton scored a key goal to tie the game at 3-3.  Brendan Strobel scored his second of the night at 2:26 of the overtime period to give Trumbull the victory.  Matt Paolini was outstanding in net with 37 saves.
