Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jan 11, 2016 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Eagles improved to 3-2-2 with a 3-2 overtime win over the Wilton Warriors at the Ridgefield Winter Garden.  Trumbull had an early 2-0 lead with goals from Brady Jensen (7) and Joe Polzello (1).  Eagle penalties allowed the Warriors to get back in the game sending the game into OT.  Senior, Sam Guttman's slap shot from the point found the back of the net delivering Trumbull's third win of the season.

The game was part of the FCIAC's "Ice ALS" week.  All FCIAC hockey teams helped raise money and awareness for the charity.

EAGLES OFF TO SOLID START

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Dec 29, 2015 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Trumbull Eagles are off to a solid 2-0-2 start with wins over Branford (3-1) and Milford (6-2) and ties vs Watertown (5-5) and East Haven (2-2).

The young first line of Jensen (jr), Mocker (so) and Therriault (fr) has had no problem generating offense and should only get better as the season moves forward.  Eric McCabe has scored in each of the first three games, providing a nice balance of skill and toughness.

Jake Liebowitz is the corner stone of an inexperienced defensive unit that is learning on the job.  The Eagles only senior, defenseman, Sam Guttman provides the work ethic and leadership needed to keep the them moving in the right direction.

Will Guttman has been solid in net and has the ability to keep Trumbull in every game.

TRUMBULL DROPS CLOSE ONE TO CADETS

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 4, 2015 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Eagles took a tough loss to St Joe's in front of a great home crowd. The Trumbull skaters worked hard and were physical with their cross town rival but made some early mistakes that cost them. Trailing the entire game, THS never quit and kept chipping away at the lead. The home team was able to convert for three power play goals from Matt Mocker, Sam Watson and Matt Sarosky. Michael Cullen added an even strength goal in the third. The Cadets held on for the 5-4 FCIAC win.

Trumbull needs to find three more wins in their last five games to qualify for the CIAC state tournament.  The Eagles finish up the season with games against Norwalk, Fairfield, Wilton, Westhill and North Branford.
