EAGLES QUALIFY
Sophomore, Jack Mclean scored his second goal of the game in OT to delivery the 5-4 win over Stamford/Westhill. The win secured a spot for the Eagles in the CIAC D2 Tournament and improved their record to 8-7-0. THS fell behind early with some sloppy defensive play and penalties but goaltender, Alex Tsymbaluk kept them in the hunt making forty-three saves on the night. Trumbull also got goals from Collin Mallozzi, Owen Finnegan and Donny Ryan.
The Eagles will honor their seniors this Wednesday 02/13 when they host the Trinity Catholic Crusaders. The puck drops at 6:30 at The Rinks at Shelton.

HALF WAY MARK
The Trumbull Eagles hit the half way mark of the season with a record of 4-6-0. THS needs to win at least eight games to qualify for the CIAC D2 Tournament. Click on the above headline to see current CIAC standings.
The Eagles are coming off a hard fought, 4-2 loss to the Greenwich Cardinals. Although there were still areas needing improvement, this may have been Trumbull's most complete game against a quality opponent. THS has faced two tough D1 teams this season and has found themselves in a position to win each of them, tied with both New Canaan and Greenwich into the third period. The issue for the THS skaters is that between those two efforts, they managed a 4-1 loss to a D3, New Milford team that outworked and outexecuted them, scoring three short handed goals.
EAGLES DROP CLOSE ONE TO RAMS
The Trumbull Eagles put up a good fight in their first D1 game of the season, hosting the New Canaan Rams. The THS skaters stuggled to make plays early but junior goalie, Alex Tsymbaluk was rock solid keeping the Rams off the board for a scoreless first period. With some great work from Trumbull's line of sophomores (McLean, Finnegan and Guererra), the Eagles ended the frame with a 2-1 lead. The Rams scored two quick goals in the third to get back on top and would go onto win 4-3.
Goals: Guererra, Finnegan, Jackel Assists: Guererra (2), McLean (2), Finnegan, Bellios
The loss puts Trumbull at 3-4-0 for the season as they close in on the half way mark. For Trumubull Times article and more on the Eagles, Click the above headline.
