Junior, Jack McLean was an easy POW selection with six goals in two games. The winger scored four goals in Trumbull’s 6-2 win over cross town rival, St Josephs followed by another two goals in their 8-3 victory over Guilford. McLean currently leads the team in goals (6) and is second in points (11). The alternate captain also adds some grit to the offense and is currently second among forwards with nineteen hits.

Junior, Jack McLean scored four goals to help Trumbull defeat their biggest rival, the St Joseph’s Cadets by a score of 6-2. The alternate captain, opened the scoring with one in a tight first period that ended tied 1-1 for the cross town rivals. McLean delivered the natural hat trick in the second, his third and fourth goals just ten seconds apart. Senior, Manny Bellios closed out the scoring by adding two of his own. Defenseman, Marco Minopoli had three assists and Alex Tsymbalyuk was rock solid in net for the Eagles.

Senior, Alex Tsymbalyuk turned back all thirty-one shots to post a shut out victory over Biddeford (ME) in the second game of the Heuchling Swift Hockey Tournament. He then held Martha’s Vineyard to two goals in the final making thirty saves and giving the Eagles and excellent chance to win the tournament. Trumbull fell short in a hard fought championship game by a score of 2-1. Alex currently holds a .953 save percentage.

Trailing Watertown/Pomperaug by a goal, Owen Finnegan scored the first goal of the 2019-2020 season with less than two seconds remaining on the clock to tie the game and jump start the Trumbull offense. The Eagles would go on to win the home opener by a score of 7-2. The junior would add an assist for a two point outing and was much improved on the dots, winning a number of key face-offs for THS.

EAGLES OPEN THE SEASON WITH WIN!

The Trumbull Eagles opened the 2019-2020 season with a 7-2 win over the Watertown/Pomperaug Indians. It was a game that saw seven different Eagles find the back of the net. Alex Tsymbalyuk was sharp in goal making forty-two saves.

Trumbull will host the defending CIAC DII champions, the Branford Hornets on 12/23/19 6:00pm at The Shelton Rinks. The Hornets are a favorite to repeat and will be a good test for the Trumbull skaters. In 2012, Trumbull beat Branford 5-2 to win their first state championship.
