The Eagles are a respectable 6-4-0 at the half way mark of the season. The first half had the Eagles in the finals of the Heuchling Swift Tournament and two big wins against cross town rival, St Josephs. Two of their four losses were by a single goal (Martha’s Vineyard & North Haven in OT) while the others were to top ranked Branford and the division 1, Greenwich Cardinals. The Eagles sustained another loss with the injury to sophomore, Luca Minopoli who will miss the remainder of the season with a broken arm sustained in the game with North Haven.

Trumbull will see the top end of the FCIAC in the second half with four tough division 1 matchups (Ridgefield, Fairfield, New Canaan and Darien) but there are plenty winnable games to secure a return trip to the CIAC State Tournament.

It was all Eagles early in the rematch with cross town rival, St Joseph. Trumbull scored five first period goals on their way to an 8-1 FCIAC win. John Guererra (2g +1a), Jack McLean (2g + 1a) and Owen Finnegan (1g +2a) all had three points. Manny Bellios scored twice, including a short handed goal. Colin Franzen rounded out the scoring with his first as an Eagle.

The defense was physical and did a great job keeping the Cadets off the scoreboard. Alex Tysmbalyuk was solid as usual allowing only one goal on a 5 on 3 Cadet power play.

Trumbull goes into the tough FCIAC schedule with a record of 6-3-0.

Junior, Jack Cullen scored Trumbull’s lone goal in the Eagles 2-1 OT loss to North Haven. The defenseman is a dynamic skater and currently leads the blueliners with 4 pts (1g + 3a). Defensively, Cullen has a great stick and exceptional lateral movement. He adds to the offense with his ability to jump up into the play and his dangerous shot. Unfortunately, he does not know how to tape his stick…
