Trumbull Eagles Hockey

The Eagles end the 2019-2020 season with a 3-0 loss to North Haven in the first round of the CIAC D2 State Tournament. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our senior class and wish them well in all their future endeavors.

It was a slow week as the Eagles await the opening round of the CIAC D2 State Tournament. Our Player of the Week goes to Collin Mallozzi . The senior, has been a Swiss army knife all season for Trumbull playing all three forward positions, filling on all three top lines, killing penalties and working the power play. Mallozzi has good hands and a dangerous shot. He is tied for third in team points with 16 (8g + 8a) and has two game winning goals this season.

The Eagles ended the regular season with a 10-9-1 record and are headed to the CIAC Division 2 State Tournament. The last time the Eagles won the State Championship was in 2012.

Junior, Owen Finnegan had a big week for the Eagles. The center had two goals and an assist in Trumbull’s 4-3 loss to Stamford/Westhill and then notched four goals to help Trumbull to a 6-1 victory over Trinity Catholic. Finnegan currently leads the team in points (27) and assists (14) and is tied for first in goals with thirteen.

Junior, Jack McLean earns his second “Player of the Week” award of the season with a three point night against the Wilton Warriors. McLean scored two goals, including the game winner and added an assist. The winger currently leads the team in points with 22, goals with 13 and is tied for second in assists with 9. There is also plenty of sand paper in his game- his 60 hits rank second on the team.
