MISSED OPPORTUNITIES
The Eagles went 1-2-0 during their trip North. The Eagles opened the Heuchling Swift Tournament with Oyster River, a rematch of last year’s final which the Eagles won 3-2. The Trumbull skater s came out flat in the first, playing better as the game went on but costly turnovers and lack of scoring were their undoing in a 1-4 loss.
Trumbull played a much better game against Marshwood (D1 Maine) but again had trouble capitalizing on their chances. THS could not protect their 1-0 lead allowing two goals in the final few minutes for the eventual 2-1 loss. This loss not only hurt the Eagles’ overall record but also the opportunity for D1 power points and a crack at another D1 Maine school (Keene) on Friday.
The Eagles rounded out the tourney with a 5-3 win over Portsmouth. Trumbull returns home at 2-3-0 on the season with Wilton and Norwalk on deck.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior, Austin Ashby is our POW for week #1 of the 2022-2023 season. The center is off to a good start scoring in each of Trumbull’s first two games. Ashby has put his improved strength and speed on display. This along with his quick release make him a dangerous scoring threat for the Eagles.
Ashby will serve as one of Trumbull’s team captains this season.
Player of the week will be posted on Mondays.
TRUMBULL TO DEFEND HEUCHLING SWIFT TOURNEY

EAGLES OPEN WITH WIN
The Turmbull Eagles opened the season with a 4-3 win over Watertown/Pomperaug. Four different goal scorer ended up on the score sheet. Seniors, Jake Terlik, Austin Ashby and Giancarlo Montanaro all scored with Jr. Nik Smagacz added a goal of his own. Sr, Gabe Deist was rock solid between the pipes making 38 saves!
