SOUTH CHARLOTTE PANTHERS- PERFECT GAME UNDERCLASS
The SCP 2014s advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Perfect Game World Wood Bat Underclass Championship in Fort Myers, Florida. In a field of 166 teams the Cats went 3-0 in pool play and advanced to the 42 team play offs where they won 2 games and in a third game in a row went to the brink of advancing to the final 8; losing in extra innings. Leading the Panther hitters for the weekend were Bradley Brown 6-13 (.462) with a double and 3 RBIs; Foster Machicote 6-15 (.400) with 2 Runs Scored and 2 Stolen Bases and Josh Crump 7-21 (.333) with 2 doubles; 3 Stolen Bases and 4 Runs Scored. Doug Norman went 2-4 (.500) with 2 doubles. Nick Owens finished the weekend with 6 stolen bases.
Brandon Casas had a Win in two outings with a total of 7 innings pitched; giving up no runs and striking out 5. Ryder Ryan picked up 2 Wins on the mound; pitching 7 innings in two outings; striking out 7. Doug Norman picked up a Win; combining with Bradley Brown for an opening game no hitter. Corey Sikes gave up 0 runs in three separate outings and earned 2 saves while striking out 7. Colton Laws and Andrew Loepprich each picked up Victories in starts while giving up no runs.
Josh Crump led the defensive effort for the Cats with a couple of ESPN highlight catches in left field.
TOMMY DEJUNEAS TO NORTH CAROLINA STATE
SCP 2014 TOMMY DEJUNEAS - Providence High School has committed to attend college and play baseball at NORTH CAROLINA STATE. Tommy will join the Wolfpack following his career at Providence and the 2014 SCPs.

ALEX DESTINO COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA
2014 ALEX DESTINO - North Buncombe High School has committed to attend college and play baseball at the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA. Alex will join the Gamecocks following his career at North Buncombe and with the South Charlotte Panthers.
Congratulations to Alex; his parents Tom and Charlotte and brother Max.

JUSTIN SCHUMER - TEAM ISRAEL FOR WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC
SCP 2006 JUSTIN SCHUMER has been selected by Team Israel to participate in the World Baseball Classic in qualifying rounds September 19 -24 in Jupiter, Florida. Team Israel will compete versus Spain; France and South Africa in one of four qualifiers to advance to the WBC finals scheduled for March 2013. He will join former major league players Shawn Green; Gabe Kaplar and Brad Asmus as well as a roster of minor league players who qualified to represent Team Israel. Justin has coached the past two falls for the SCP program and will coach the Cats again this season following the WBC qualifier. He has recently returned from his third season in professional baseball where he played for the San Jose Giants; the High A minor league team for the San Fransisco Giants. Justin finished the season with a 7-4 record and team leading 140 innings pitched on the mound.
SCP 2009 RICHIE SHAFFER; Clemson University; taken 25th in the First Round of the MLB 2012 Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.
SCP 2009 LUKE BARD; Georgia Tech; taken 42nd in the First Round of the MLB 2012 Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
SCP 2009 ALEX WOOD; University of Georgia; taken 85th in the Second Round by the Atlanta Braves.
SCP 2012 TY BUTTREY; Providence High School; taken 151 in the Fourth Round by the Boston Red Sox.
SCP 2009 TYLER TEWELL; Appalachian State University; taken 449 in the Fourtenth Round by the Atlanta Braves.
SCP 2008 RYAN ARROWOOD: Appalachian State University; taken 858 in the Twenty-eigth Round by the Colorado Rockies.
SCP 2012 BRAD STONE; Ardrey Kell High School; taken 1086 in the Thirty-fifth Round by the Texas Rangers.
2013 DRAKE ZUPCIC; Cuthbertson High School has committed to attend college and play baseball at APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY. Drake will join the Mountaineers following his senior season at Cuthbertson. He will carry on the Zupcic family legacy at ASU following on the heels of his All Southern Conference and SCP 2009 Tyler Zupcic.
