RICHIE SHAFFER TO THE MAJORS WITH TAMPA BAY RAYS
SCP 2009 RICHIE SHAFFER - (Providence HS / Clemson University) was promoted to the Tampa Bay Rays and made his Major League debut on Monday, August 3 in Chicago versus the White Sox. Richie was promoted from the Rays AAA club the Durham Bulls where he was leading the minor leagues in HRs with 23 while batting .263 with 59 RBIs. In his debut Richie started at 1B and went 0-2 at the plate with a walk and was hit by a pitch in his first Major League at bat. Richie was drafted 25th overall by the Rays in 2012 out of Clemson University.
Richie got his first hit on Tuesday, August 4; a Home Run over the right field fence and after a week in the bigs Richie is hitting .400 with 2 HRs.

KOBE PHILLIPS COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA CHARLOTTE
SCP 2016 KOBE PHILLIPS - Butler High School has committed to attend college and play baseball at the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA CHARLOTTE. Kobe will join the 49ers following his senior season at Butler and this fall with the SC Panthers.
Congratulations to Kobe; his parents Tyron and Lori; brother Shandre; sisters Jaden and Jeanine.
JASON CURTIS SIGNS WITH APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY
SCP 2015 JASON CURTIS - Marvin Ridge High School will attend college and play baseball next year at APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY. Jason helped lead Marvin Ridge to the North Carolina State 3A Championship this past season where he played SS and led off for the Mavericks. He will join the Mountaineers this fall in Boone.
