HAWKS "SLAM" TROY
Laguna Hills, CA (3-6-07)- In what may prove to be the most dramatic moment of the entire season, Ryan Wertenberger, in his first at bat this year, came through with the Hawks’ biggest hit, a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 7th to propel the Hawks to an 8-6 come-from-behind victory over Troy High School. The Hawks season record improved to 3-0 and are undefeated in the season opening Elks Tournament. Troy jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings, but the Hawks came back with three in the bottom of the third. Chris Giovinazzo led off the inning with a solo homerun, and after one out, the Hawks scored two more on four consecutive singles. The Hawks scored once again in the fourth on an RBI double by Robert Refsnyder who continued his torrid hitting with three hits in the game. Kyle Harrison and John Lamb also had three hits for the Hawks. Troy’s offense scored one run in every inning of the game except the third, but it was not enough to overcome the "Slam".
