Lumber Company improved their JPD Thursday night "B" league record to 2-0 after knocking off Primetime in a come from behind 21-19 victory. In a game that saw the Lumber Co, trailing Primetime 17-9 going into the 5th inning the Lumber Co. bats woke up scoring 12 runs over the final 3 innings to win the game 21-19. Rick Motta (2-2, 4 RBIs), provided the game winning hit driving in 2 runs with two on and two out in the top of the 7th. Also leading the LoCo offensive attack was M.Wallace, 4-4, 6 RBIs, 1 HR; J.Pool, 3-3, 2 RBIs; K.Wallace, 3-4, 1 HR; B.Munday 3-4; A.Blazekovich, 3-4; T.Giese, 1 HR and J.Behun, 1 HR. Lumber Co. then dropped a 15-14 decision against Larsen's Corner/Pizza for U in JPD Friday night "B" league play. Lumber Company led by 2 runs going into the bottom of the 7th but a good hitting Larsen's Corner team scored 3 runs and walked away with the win. The loss puts the Lumber Co.'s record to 2-1 in Friday night "B" league play. Having good offensive nights for the Lumber Co. were T.Giese, 2-2, 2 HRs, 2 BBs, 4 RBIs; R.Motta, 3-3, 1 BB; E.Boe, 3-4, 3 RBIs, A.Blazekovich, 3-4 and B.Walsh, 2-3, 1 BB. Lumber Co's next game is Saturday morning at 9:00am against Money on field #2 in this weekend's Joliet USSSA "C" Qualifier.

Lumber Co. Stays Perfect in JPD League Play

Lumber Company stayed perfect in JPD league play. Lumber Co.'s Thursday (5/19) night JPD "B" league game against KGB/Mainline was rained out. This game will be made up a latter date. Once the rescheduled date and time is announced it will be posted on this website. On Friday night the weather was beautiful and the LoCo was again matched up with KGB/Mainline in JPD Friday night "B" league action. The LoCo offense was hitting on all cylinders as they scored 26 runs on 26 hits defeating KGB by a final of 26-11, winning by the 15 run rule in 4 innings of play. Leading the Lumber Co. offense in this game was B.Walsh, 4-4, 1 HR, 7 RBIs; R.Motta, 3-3, 3 RBIs; J.Pool, 3-3, 1 BB, 2 RBIs; M.Wallacce, 3-3, 1 BB; J.Lesnik, 2-2, 1 BB; R.Nurczyk, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs and E.Boe, 1 HR, 5 RBIs. Lumber Company's next game will be on Thursday, May 26th at 7:30pm against Primetime on field #3. This week's Thursday and Friday night league games will serve as a tune-up as the Lumber Co. will be playing in a USSSA "C" Qualifier in Joliet over Memorial Day weekend.

LoCo finish 4th in the NSA "D" Early Bird

Lumber Company took home 4th place in the NSA "D" Early Bird World Series Qualifier in Kankakee, IL over the weekend of May 14th and 15th. The Lumber Co. finished with a 3-2 record in the tourney. Lumber Company opened the tourney with Dave's Pizza from Bartonville, IL. The LoCo jumped out early in this game with a 10 run top of the first and never looked back winning the game by the 12 run rule in 5 innings with the final score being Lumber Co. 23, Dave's Pizza 8. Lumber Company's second round game had them matched up with Road Dogs from Crystal Lake, IL. Road Dogs came out fast owning a 18-8 lead going into the top of the 5th inning. But in the top of 5 the Lumber Company bats exploded for a 19 run inning giving the LoCo a 27-18 lead after the frame. The Lumber Co. held on winning by a final score of 30-21. In this game the Lumber Co. pounded out 35 hits. Game 3 saw the Lumber Co. matched up with Slick Rick's from Bloomington, IL. With a strong wind blowing out neither team could keep the ball in the park trading runs with each other due to NSA's progressive penalty home run rule. However, in the end Slick Rick's did a better job getting their offense on track despite the conditions beating the Lumber Company by a final score of 19-9. Lumber Co. opened play on Sunday, their 4th game of the tourney, in the Loser's bracket against an always tough Kelly Glass team from Peoria, IL. The Lumber Co. bats were awake, despite the early 8:00am game time, as the Lumber Co. defeated Kelly Glass by the 12 run rule in five innings with the final score of Lumber Co. 25, Kelly Glass 11. The LoCo had 33 hits in this game. Lumber Company's fifth and final game of the tournament was against Squeeze Softball from Arlington Heights, IL. In a game were neither teams offense showed up, Squeeze defeated the Lumber Co. in a very close 6-5 final. The tournament's top four teams were as follows. 1.) Wizards 2.) Slick Rick's 3.) Squeeze Softball 4.) Lumber Company The Lumber Company batted .595 as a team in this tournament averaging 19.4 runs per game. Leading the Lumber Co. offense for the tournament were B.Walsh, .778, 1 HR, 6 RBIs; J.Pool, .700; E.Boe, .692, 1 HR, 7 RBIs; J.Lesnik, .692, 8 RBIs; J.Filas, .692; M.Staab, .667, 12 RBIs; R.Nurczyk, .667, 1 HR, 11 RBIs; T.Giese, .600, 2 HRs; B.Munday .529, 6 RBIs; K.Wallace, .529, 6 RBIs; R.Motta, .500, 6 RBIs and J.Behun, .500. Lumber Company open their Thursday night Joliet Park District "B" league with a 5 inning 21-11 win over Heroes & Legends/All In. Leading the Lumber Company offensive attack were J.Behun with 3 hits, 1 HR and 5 RBIs; A.Blazekovich, 3 hits, 1 HR, 4 RBIs; M.Wallace, 3 hits, 1 BB, 1 RBI, R.Motta 3 hits, 2 RBIs and J.Pool, 2 hits and 2 BBs. In total the Lumber Co. pounded our 21 hits and scored at least 3 runs in all 5 innings of the game. Lumber Company's Friday night JPD "B" league opener was against Ken's Beverage. This game was all Lumber Company as they cruised to an easy 15-5 five inning run rule win. Leading the Lumber Co. offense in this game with 2 hits a piece were E.Boe, T.Giese (1 HR), M.Wallace (1 HR), B.Walsh (1 HR), K.Wallace and M.Staab. Lumber Company's next game will be in the NSA "D" Early Bird World series Qualifier in Kankakee, IL. Lumber Company opened its 2005 season in the Joliet, IL USSSA "D" NIT on April 16th and 17th. Lumber Company started the year off facing Super Sports/Limbach Chiropractic from Kenosha, WI. The first game of the year saw the LoCo offense starting a little slow, which resulted in a loss to the Wisconsin ball club by a final score of 6-5. In game number 2 the Lumber Co. matched up with Still Young from St. Charles, IL. This game was all Lumber Co. as they cruised to an easy 9-1 victory. Game 3 had the Lumber Co. facing Stallions/Furious Lunchmeat from Bloomingdale, IL. The bats heated up in this one and much like in game 2 the LoCo rolled to an easy 12-4 victory. Our fourth and final game on Saturday was against Saturday Night Beavers from Downers Grove, IL. Lumber Company controlled the lead the entire game and came away with a 8-3 victory. Game number 5 was a bright and early 8:00am Sunday morning contest against the Yellow Jackets from Peru, IL. In this game the LoCo could not find any real offensive grove and the result was a 10-5 defeat. 3-2 was not the finish we were looking for, but 5 early season games allowed us to get in a lot of swings and knock some of the rust off as we look forward to the upcoming 2005 campaign. The entire team contributed to outstanding defense all weekend. Leading the Lumber Co. offensive over the weekend were E.Boe, .588; J.Pool, .583; M.Wallace, .562; J.Lesnik, .500; A.Blazekovich, .500 and R.Motta, .500. Lumber Company's next game will be their Joliet Park District league opener on Thursday, May 12th at 9:30pm against Heroes & Legends/All In on field #4.
