Congrats Eric & Lisa Boe

Lumber Company left center fielder Eric Boe and fiance Lisa Dennis were married on Friday, July 15th at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, IL. A reception followed that evening at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. A great time was had by all. Best wishes go out to Eric and Lisa from you Lumber Co. softball family.
Lumber Company took second place in the 8 team, June 25th USSSA "C" Qualifier in Joliet, IL. Lumber Co. finished with a 3-2 record. The LoCo started the tourney off with an 8-2 win over All In a "C" team from Joliet. Next up was another "C" team, Slugs from Aurora, IL. Lumber Co. won this game 4-2. Lumber Co.'s 3rd game of the day, the winner's bracket Championship, was against KGB from Lockport. KGB battled back from an early Lumber Co. lead to and defeated the Lumber Co. 13-7. In game 4, Lumber Company was matched up with Fusion, a "C" team from Crystal Lake, IL. The winner would advance to the championship game and would get a shot at KGB. The Lumber Co. bats heated up knocking out Fusion by a final score of 21-13. In the championship game the LoCo Train ran out of gas, losing to a good KGB team by a final of 8-1. For their efforts the Lumber Co. won a paid berth to the USSSA Elite "D" State tournament in Rockford, IL on August 20th and 21st and an unpaid berth to the Great Lake National Tournament over Labor Day weekend in Blaine, MN. Leading the LoCo at the plate this weekend were J.Behun, .1000; E.Boe, .824; R.Motta, .625; M.Wallace, .600, 10 RBIs and J.Filas, .550. *click on this article's headline to view the entire tournament's resultsimage

Congrats Matt & Tiffany Staab

Lumber Company right fielder Matt Staab and fiance Tiffany Christensen were married on Saturday, June 18th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. A reception followed that evening at Jennifer's Garden in Morris. The Lumber Co. softball team really rocked the dance floor. The Lumber Co. won the June 4th NSA "D" World Series Qualifier in Country Club Hills, IL. The Lumber Co. went 5-1 in route to their tournament Championship. For their win the LoCo earned a NSA "D" World (Indianapoilis, IN), Regional (Arlington Heights, IL) and State (Kankakee, IL) berths. Lumber Company opened the tourney with Gamers. Lumber Company scored 14 first inning runs and never looked back winning this game by the 12 run rule in 5 innings. The final score was Lumber Co. 19, Gamers 4. Game number 2 had the LoCo matched up with Jesse Oaks. The Lumber Co. again came out fast scoring 7 runs in the top of the first inning, however the LoCo bats then went cold and they did not score again. They were leading Jesse Oaks 7-6 going into the bottom of the 7th, but a Jesse Oaks 2 run walk off homerun sent the Lumber Co. to the losers bracket, final score Jesse Oaks 8, Lumber Co. 7. In the loser's bracket the Lumber Co. had some work to do. The first team they sent home was Snafu. The LoCo bats got hot once agian as they cruised to a 21-5, 4 inning run rule victory over Snafu. Next up was Hell Yeah. In a game that was back and forth, a Lumber Co. 4 run 6th inning put the Lumber Co. ahead for good winning by a final of Lumber Co. 12, Hell Yeah 11. The win advanced the Lumber Co. to the championship game and a rematch with Jeese Oaks, a team the LoCo needed to double dip to take home the tourney crown. In a game with the wind howling in, runs were at a premium and the LoCo were able to plate 5 and play good defense to shut out Jesse Oaks to win by a final of 5-0 and force the if game. Now with both teams having 1 loss this game was for all the marbles. Jesse Oaks took an early 4-0 lead, but a 7 run 3rd inning gave the Lumber Co. a lead they would never relinquish. The final score was Lumber Co. 9, Jesse Oaks 7. Nice work men. It took a total team effort with all 13 guys contributing to play 6 games in 6 hours in the heat. Leading the LoCo offense all tournament were J.Pool, .667; J.Behun, .583, 6 RBIs; J.Lesnik, .571, 7 RBIs; E.Boe, .529, 4 HRs, 14 RBIs; R.Nurczyk, .556; M.Wallace, .500, 6 RBIs; B.Walsh, .500, 6 RBIs; R.Motta, 9 RBIs and K.Wallace 1 HR. Lumber Company's next game will be on Thursday, June 9 at 7:30pm against Marino Construction/Stone City/D'Arcy on field #4. image
Lumber Company played in the Memorial Day weekend USSSA "C" Qualifier in Joliet, IL and finished the weekend with a disappointing 1-2 finish, good for 4th place. The Lumber Co. opened the tourney against Money an Elite "D" team from Orland Park, IL. Money scored 8 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back winning the game by a final score of 16-5. Lumber Company's second game had them matched up with Lethal Softball, a "C" team from Romeoville, IL. This game had several lead changes, with the Lumber Co. scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 10-9 lead which ended up being the final score giving the LoCo the victory. In the LoCo's third and final game of the tourney they were matched up with Primetime a familiar foe who is a "C" team also from Joliet. In this game Primetime scored 5 quick first innings runs and were able to hold off the Lumber Co., winning by a final score of 9-3. Leading the LoCo offense in this tourney was E.Boe, .800; R.Nurczyk, .625; B.Munday, .600; B.Walsh, .556 and J.Filas, .556. Lumber Company's next game is Thursday night in JPD league play at 9:30pm against Ken's Beverage.
