Lumber Co. Finish 5th at NSA "D" Regionals.

Lumber Company took 5th place with a 4-2 record in the NSA "D" Regional Tournament in Arlington Heights, IL. There were 20 of the best NSA "D" teams from 4 states (IL, MI, WI & IN) playing in the Regional. The Lumber Co. opened the tourney with a 21-10 loss against Jax/Mizuno from Michigan. In this game the Lumber Co. hit 6 home runs, resulting in Jax/Mizuno getting 10 free runs do to the NSA progressive penalty HR rule. In their second game the Lumber Co. defeated Road Dogs from Crystal Lake, IL by a final score of 9-8. In Game 3 the LoCo defeated Verlo, the 2005 Wisconsin NSA "D" state champs, by the 10 run rule 14-4. In their last game on Saturday the Lumber Co. knocked off a tough Jesse Oaks squad form DeKalb, IL by a final of 13-6. Lumber Co. opened Sunday with Rakers Appraisal, who are from Southern IL. The Lumber Co. won this game by a final score of 14-6. Lumber Company's final game of the tourney was a 15-13 loss to Wolverines from MI. The top 5 finishers from the Arlington Heights "D" Regional were as follows. 1.) WTP (WI) 2.) Wizards (IL) 3.) Add-a-Bath/Demarini (IL) 4.) Wolverines (MI) 5.) Lumber Co. (IL) and Jax/Mizuno (MI) Leading the Lumber Co. offense all weekend were M.Wallace, .700, 6 RBIs; J.Filas, .625, 1 HR, 6 RBIs; J.Pool, .609, 1 HR, 6 RBIs; R.Motta, .571, 1 HR, 7 RBIs; E.Boe, .565, 2 HRs, 11 RBIs; J.Lesnik, .533; T.Giese, .524, 1 HR, 11 RBIs and B.Munday, .500. All in all a top 5 finish in in a tough NSA Regional tournament is something to be proud of. Especially battling back from a first round loss were we made it tough on ourselves with all the home runs. Lumber Co. 1-2 at USSSA Elite D State

Lumber Company finished in 7th place in the 2005 USSSA "D" Elite State tournament with a 1-2 record. Lumber Co. opened the tourney with Slugs from Aurora, IL. The Slugs' bats were hot this game putting up 23 runs to send the Lumber Co. to the losers' bracket. The final score was Slugs 23, Lumber 13. Lumber Company clubbed 19 hits in the losing effort. Lumber Company's second game was against Blackhawk AC from Rockford, IL. In this game the Lumber Co. bats got hot scoring 17 runs on 21 hits in 4 innings to run rule Blackhawk by a final of 17-5. Lumber Company's third and final game of the tourney was against Roundin' Third from Chicago, IL. In this game neither teams offense got going and both defenses played well, as Roundin' Third was able to hold off the Lumber Co. winning this game by a final score of 6-3. The Lumber Co. did not execute in this game only scoring 3 runs despite 13 hits. Leading the Lumber Co. offense was R.Motta hitting .1000 (8-8), 4 RBIs; B.Munday, .1000 (3-3); M.Wallace, .857; E.Boe, .700, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs; J.Filas, .700; J.Pool, .545; R.Nurczyk, 1 HR, 7 RBIs and T.Giese, 1 HR, 4 RBIs. Lumber Company Beats Ken's Beverage

In Joliet Park District Thursday Night "B" League play the Lumber Company upset the perennial Joliet power Ken's Beverage by a final score of 22-11. This win improved the Lumber Company's record to 6-6 in Thursday Night "B" league action, which is pretty good considering the caliber of the competition in this league. Leading the LoCo offense on Thursday night were M.Staab, 3-3, 1 BB; M.Wallace, 3-4, 2 HRs, 4 RBIs; K.Wallace, 3-4 and J.Filas 3-5, 4 RBIs. T Giese also homered twice and drove in 4 runs. Kenny Wallace pitched a great game and the defense was solid. Lumber Company's next game is Friday, August 12th at 7:30pm on field #2 against Larsen's Corner/Pizza For U.
Lumber Company was 2-0 this past week in Joliet Park District league play. In Thursday night "B" league action the Lumber Co. knocked off Primetime in 8 innings by a final score of 8-7. In a game neither team could really get the offense going, the tough Lumber Co. defense and timely hitting were keys to the victory. J.Filas, B.Munday and T.Giese all had two hits in this contest. In Friday night JPD "B" league action the Lumber Co.. used some late inning heroics scoring 5 runs in the bottom off the 7th inning to knock off KGB by a final score of 13-12. K.Wallace (1 HR) and M.Wallace had 3 hits each. Adding two hits a piece in this contest were S.Munday, E.Boe, B.Munday, A.Blazekovich and J.Pool. R.Motta had 1 hit and 3 walks. Lumber Co. next game is Thursday, August 11th at 7:30pm in JPD Thursday night "B" league action against Ken's Beverage on field #2.image
The Lumber Company was knocked out of the Joliet City Tournament's open division on Wednesday night by Alfa's/Classic Construction by a final score of 21-18. The Lumber Co. jumped out fast as the visitors in this game scoring 7 first inning runs. Through 2 1/2 innings the LoCo owned a 10-4 lead. However a 14 run bottom of the 3rd inning put Alfa's/Classic Construction on top by a score of 18-10. The LoCo would battle back and cut the lead to 2 runs going into both the bottom of the 5th (18-16) and 6th (20-18) innings. Alfa's added an extra run in the bottom of six to stretch their lead to 3, 21-18. The LoCo had two men on base in the top of the 7th but were unable to push across any runs, giving Alfa's/Classic Construction the 21-18 victory. In other open division action D'Arcy/Manino Construction defeated Creative Design, Ken's Beverage beat Primetime, KGB run ruled Creative Design knocking them out of the tourney and Primetime run ruled Alfa's/Classic Construction ending their tournament run. Open Division games for Thursday (7/28) night have Ken's Beverage vs. D'Arcy/Marino Construction in the winner's bracket championship game on field #5 at 7:30 and KGB vs. Primetime in the loser's bracket game on field #2 at 7:30. The Ken's Beverage/D'Arcy Marino Construction loser will then play the KGB/Primetime winner at 9:00pm on field # 1. The Open Championship game will be Friday (7/29) night on field #1 starting at 7:47pm. Leading the Lumber Co. offense during the City Tournament was A.Blazekovich, 1.000, 7 RBIs; R.Motta, .833; R.Nurczyk. .800, 2 HRs, 8 RBIs; E.Boe, .750; J.Pool, .600; M.Wallace, .500, 1 HR and B.Walsh, .500. Lumber Company's next game will be on Thursday, August 4th in JPD League play against Primetime at 7:30pm on field #6. Lumber Company will have the next 3 weekends off (July 30th & 31st, August 6th & 7th and August 13th & 14th) before starting a run of some big time end of the year tournaments in three straight weekends. Those tournaments are as follows. August 20th & 21st - USSSA Elite "D" State, Rockford, IL (various parks) August 27th & 28th - NSA "D" Regional, Arlington Heights, IL (Melas Park) September 3rd - 5th - USSSA "D" National, Blaine, MN (BeBops Sports Complex) Lumber Co.'s last scheduled tournament at this point will be the NSA "D" World Tournament in Indianapolis, IN (Midwest Sports Complex) over the weekend of September 17th & 18th.
