NAFL: CennPA 21...Springfield 6 Northern Tier..bye Lancaster Lightning 38...Hudson Valley 22 The Kingston newspaper reports the following remarks from Rick Clausi following the Giants game at Lancaster, "the season could be jeopardy due to financial considerations...because of Pat's demis, a decision will be made this week about the last of the season...we need $12,000 to $14,000 to finish the season, and I don't know where it will come from. Pat was our financial backing and his money will be tied up some time....Hudson Valley could request a leave of absence for its four remaining games." Rick states four remaining games, but their schedule only shows three games: 8/16 home with Milford, 9/6 at Springfield, and 9/20 at Northern Tier. It is interesting because HVGiants had their opposing teams sign a contract for the games and it had a $1000 penalty if the game is not played. Other news in the NAFL: Hamilton, Canada which last week could not field a team for a trip to SW Michigan did play at Jackson, Michigan this week, and they lost again 55-0 to the Jackson Bombers. Something happened in Eastern PA, maybe the weather, but the game between the Pittsburgh Colts and Milford Scriopions was posted as a Pittsburgh win at 2-0...no other information...we will keep our eye on this. ======================================================== NYAFL: Johnstown 17...Utica 10 Syracuse Express 20...Montreal 14 The Syracuse Express is the NYAFL top team with a 4-1 record. We will see how Montreal travels because next week they travel to Hornell, not only is Hornell a good team this year, but the first time Montreal must do is find Hornell on the map and find which road to take to get there. NEFL: Conn Thunder 21...Vermont Ice Storm 6 Eastern League: Middleboro at Marlboro..postponed due to weather, rescheduled for 8/29 Quincy folded this week-end....they had a game scheduled at Marlboro next week-end, Marlboro is talking to Albany about playing each other....8/16th

Team Action August 2

EFL Scores: Glens Falls 35...Orange Co. 3 (yes this is correct) Plattsburgh 42...Burlington 0 Montreal 23...St.Lawrence 7 Albany 12...Scranton 7 Watertown...bye ======================================================= NAFL: Milford (Eastern Penna) 25...Hudson Valley 20 Hudson Valley has not won any league games, this game was scheduled to be played at Milford but it was played at Kingston before 125 fans, I do not know the reason for the change. They are home this week against Lancaster and then they go on the road for the rest of season and this team does not travel well. Northern Tier 17...Lancaster 7 Northern Tier was scheduled to play Pittsburgh Predators next week, but the game has been cancelled. On the Semi-Pro Message Board they have posted a message that they are looking for a game and they are challengeing Scranton, in fact on their schedule they have Scranton penciled in for 8/30. Springfield..bye Springfild was scheduled to play the Bridgeport Knights (NAFA), the Knights called it off and Springfield could not find another team to play. Maybe they will need the rest because next week they play Cenn PA at Harrisburg, their bus will leave at 3AM. ========================================================= NYAFL: Montreal finally lost and Johnstown finally won Hornell 24...Utica 20 Rochester Rengedes 26...Montreal 21 Johnstown 34...Buffalo 18 They have 4 teams at 3-1 (Montreal, the Sting, Rochester, & Syracuse) ========================================================== GSFL: The Garden State Football League finally started their season. They have 10 teams and will play 8 league games each thru August & September. Brooklyn Marniers 26...New Jersey Wolves 12 ========================================================== Eastern League: Marlboro 17...Clinton Irish Blizzard 7 Middleboro Cobras are leading the league with a 4-0 record, Marlboro is 2-2. ========================================================== Human Interest Stories: Jackson-Bey of the Northern Tier, formely of Scranton & the EFL, won the first Minor League Football News "Offensive Player of the Week Award" for his game against Hudson Valley Giants when he ran for 193 yds on 26 carries..This season he had 592 yards going into this week-end game against Lancaster. Kevin Strzalka of the St.Lawrence Trailblazers is the father of a father/son blocking pair in their offensive line. I do not know his age but it is around 45, however he is a starter after being away from football for 28 years. Racine Raiders Fans, have caused so much trouble in a recent game that the organization has had to increase their security and not allow some of this group into the game. If you have played in front of this group you know how bad it can be, but they were always very good after the game.
