Our second set of fall clinics is scheduled for the next two weeks. As you know, we have arranged for several clinics this fall designed to help you keep sharp during the off season. The clinics are open only to kids who were registered with us last year, and will be free of charge! The focus this time will be on pitching and catching, so if you’re interested in playing there, be sure to come and learn something new about those tough positions. (Remember, anyone who is interested in practicing at catcher MUST be wearing a cup. There will be no exceptions, no excuses.) The Clinic for all kids who will be eligible for minors and majors in 2004 (that is, who will be between 9 and 12 on July 31, 2004) will be on Thursday, November 13, at 6:00 at Mishcon. The Clinic for all kids who will be eligible for juniors and up in 2004 (that is, who will be 13 or older on July 31, 2004) will be on Wednesday, November 19, at 6:00 at Allen. The special meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. at the Silver Youth Center, 17091 NE 19th Ave., North Miami Beach, FL. could not go forward for lack of a quorum. The purpose of the meeting was to decide whether to amend the NMBOLL Constitution to increase from 3 to 10 the number of Board members needed for a quorum. Whether the meeting will be rescheduled is undetermined at this time.

On Tuesday, July 29, the NMBOLL continued its growth by electing a 26-person Board of Directors. The Board met immediately after the election, and elected the following officers: President: Jim Allen Vice President of Baseball: Leon Egozi Vice President of Administration: Loretta Mufson Secretary: Laura Haber Treasurer: Alan Wolfson Player Agent: Greg Thomas Deputy Player Agent (rookies) Zena Gruda League Information Officer: Aaron Groffman Safety Officer: Russell Karr Director/Umpires: Adrian Irwin Director/Scheduling: Stephanie Kienzle Director/Player and Coach Development: Brian Adams Director/Equipment and Uniforms: Abel Mercado Director/Special Events: Saralyn Nemser Director/Sponsorships: Walter Reynoso Director/Public Relations: Mona Heisler Director/Fund Raising: Ellie Bates Director/Government Liaison: Kevin Rafferty Other Directors: Ruben Coto, Rob Moskovitz, Clu Saulan, Shawn Sherwood, George Vallejo, Gary Heldenmuth, Virgilio Rosario, and Cheryl Semeah Even with our larger board, the League definitely still needs more people to step up to the plate--especially parents of the younger children. Many of the present Board have kids who are in Majors and up; if we want this league to continue to flourish, you parents of Rookie League and Minors Junior are going to HAVE to participate. We will be calling on you to assist in the many activities in the best Little League in Florida!

Well, Williamsport will have to wait til next year to enjoy the spirit of NMBOLL. The Juniors and Majors both lost Monday night to Liberty City. Earlier, the 9-10 year old team, led by Evan Marbin, lost for the second time agaisnt North Miami American, but made a solid comeback in the last inning. Next, the Seniors after having beaten Miami Springs, lost to North Miami American, 10-9, then got eliminated by MIami Springs. Even though we're out of the running for the World Series, it was a great season. Thanks to all the players, coaches, parents and fans who made it all possible!
