Dodgers Majors Champions!!

Posted by Jim Allen at Jun 3, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Dodgers defeated the Cardinals, 10-3, in the Majors Interleague championship game on Thursday. The Dodgers were led by the strong pitching of Jonathan Elovic, who held the scrappy Cardinals at bay. The Cards made it to the big dance by edging the Astros, 4-3, in extra innings on Wednesday. After the Astros' Henri Thomas and the Cards' Robert Mufson battled to a 3-3 draw over the regulation 6, the Cards scratched out the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th. Last week, the Majors Dodgers, led by Tournament Team Manager Kevin Rafferty, emerged from the playoffs as the sole remaining undefeated team on Tuesday by beating the upstart Astros, 9-4. Congratulations to all!! It's been a great playoff.

NMB NOT to Host Sectional Tournament

Posted by Jim Allen at Jun 2, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Although the NMBOLL had been awarded the Little League Sectional Tournament, which would have matched up our District champion against the Districts in Broward and Palm Beach, we will not be able to host because the City has decided to shut down Mishcon Field on June 14 for rehabilitation. Maybe next year!

Juniors, Seniors Playoffs Underway

Posted by Jim Allen at May 25, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
You're playing with the big boys now! The Juniors and Seniors playoffs are underway. The Seniors get things started (a little belatedly, due to an umpire glitch) on Friday, as they host North Miami American. The playoff will be a four-team, double-elimination playoff, with our Seminoles having the number 2 seed. Go 'Noles! The NMB Juniors teams are have similarly high seeds. They hold the second, third and fourth seeds in the 12-team junior playoff, led by Brian Adams' Number 2 Tigers. The three teams will start play on Tuesday, June 1, right after Memorial Day. Check the schedule below for specifics. Good luck to all NMB teams!

Playoff Sportsmanship

Posted by Jim Allen at May 24, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
A recent playoff game saw multiple displays of inappropriate conduct by coaches, parents and players. Your Board of Directors is determined that it not occur again. Under our rules, if a player throws a bat, that incident serves as a warning to BOTH teams that the next player who throws a bat, even unintentionally, will be called out. This incident will serve as ALL teams' "warning": If we receive ANY further reports from an umpire of lack of sportsmanship or otherwise inappropriate conduct under our Little League and local rules, the Board will IMMEDIATELY convene to determine whether the playoffs for that division be terminated without a winner. The NMBOLL is about kids having FUN playing baseball. Let's all do our part to make sure that happens.
