AFA Qualifier Tournament - St. Charles

Posted by Cynthia Seltzer at Mar 20, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

What a good tournament!  We only went 1 - 3, but we had 4 games against good teams, and we could have won all of them. 2 of the three games on Saturday went to International Tie Breaker, and the other game was lost in the last inning of regular play.  For a first tournament, we did really well.  We need to tie a few more hits together, but once our bats get rolling, our pitching and defense have been good.  Our bats woke up on Sunday and we actually outhit the Damage, but they tied all their hits together in one BIG inning!  Good job, girls!  Can't wait to see what we do when we all get on the same page.

Saturday, March 24

10:30 am on field #2 vs. Wicked Fastpitch WON 3 - 1
1:30 pm on field #2 vs. Legion of Doom (Smith) LOST 3 - 2
3:00 pm on field #2 vs. Esprit (Hecker) LOST 3 - 2

Sunday, March 25

9:00 am on field #2 vs. Damage LOST 4 - 6

Candle Wishes Fundraiser!

Posted by Cynthia Seltzer at Jan 22, 2007 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

FUNDRAISING IS EASY WITH CANDLE WISHES!
Here’s how the simple two-week program works…

Candlewishes provides each of you with a single sales order form picturing the Candles with the various aromas.  You will take orders for a two-week period starting February 1st and ending February 15th.  You can either collect up front as orders are taken or collect as you deliver the product.  However, we have to pay Candlewishes up front, so we will have to collect from you in advance.  All money will be due with the order on February 15th and needs to be in cash or a single check from a Diamond Cats’ family.  PLEASE DO NOT HAVE YOUR INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMERS MAKE THEIR CHECKS OUT TO THE DIAMOND CATS.

Prices for candles are $13 for 10 oz. And $19 for 16 oz.  You will receive 40% profit if we sell 1 – 99 candles, and 50% profit if we sell more than 100 candles.  With 4 teams selling, I would hope we could sell more than 100.

Candles are shipped within 10 – 14 business days after payment has been received.  For your convenience all orders are PRESORTED by participant!!  Free Shipping for all orders over 12 candles!!

An example provided: Based on selling the 10 oz. candle, 25 participants each taking orders for only 20 candles…total profits for the organization is at least $3,250!!

For more information contact Cynthia at 636-530-0220 or cseltzer@charter.net!

Candle Wishes, Inc. is among the first to perfect the correct blend of soy and aromatics suitable for clean and safe use.  Their efforts have resulted in a candle that not only is non-toxic, but burns longer and cleaner than conventional candles made of paraffin.

Benefits of soy wax

é       Produces no harmful carcinogens

é       Produces 95% less soot

é       Burns longer and more uniformly

é       All natural (no metals, no paraffin) made from soybean oil and other vegetable waxes

é       Water soluble and biodegradable

é       Cost competitive with paraffin candles

é       Soy wax candles are the first real innovation in the candle industry in the 150 years since paraffin came into use as the predominant candle manufacturing material

Disadvantages of paraffin

é       Paraffin contains 11 documented toxins, 2 are carcinogens

é       Paraffin produces problematic soot emissions

é       Made from petroleum and many have metal in their wicks, some being lead

é       The petro-soot that is produced from burning petroleum based candles can be as harmful as second hand tobacco smoke

é       Paraffin is not biodegradable

é       Paraffin burns hotter and faster

The American Lung Association has warned consumers of unhealthy indoor air quality from burning candles containing Petroleum by products
