Great job, Cats!  For our first experience, ever, playing indoors, we had some great games this past weekend!  We thought we might be rusty, but it looked like we came to make some noise!  Two games and two wins!  Thanks to the All-American Dream and Olathe Rockets (Moppin) for some great competition.  For more info, see D-Cats News page.

MIZZOU Team Camp

Great job, Cats!  For our first experience, ever, playing indoors, we had some great games this past weekend!  We thought we might be rusty, but it looked like we came to make some noise!  Two games and two wins!  Thanks to the All-American Dream and Olathe Rockets (Moppin) for some great competition.

Game 1 vs. All-American Dream - Cats win 9 - 1...Ashley M. started and pitched 3 solid innings once she got used to the mat the pitchers had to pitch from.  The only run of the game for the Dream came in their first inning.  Ashley settled down after that and pitched very well.  JJ led off the Cat's first inning with a triple and it was all Diamond Cats after that.  Our pitching and defense were awesome, and the hitting, combined with some walks, was timely allowing us to score a total of 9 runs.

Game 2 vs. Olathe Rockets - Cats win 5 - 1...Kinsey, filling in for an injured Brittany and absent Lindsay, pitched shut out ball for 3 innings.  A very timely strikeout kept the Rocket batters frustrated.  They managed to score 1 run in the 4th inning with 2 outs and a non-call on a ground-rule double.  This was a very good team, and our defense and hitting kept them on their heels the entire game.  Holly, Lauren & Ashley had beautiful doubles, and Kinsey hit one smash that if it had missed the overhead girders, would have been a homerun in ANY park.

Jenna was 2 for 2 in stolen bases this weekend, and ALL of our sacrifice bunts were successful in both games.  Holly led all hitters with a .667 batting average, .750 OB%, and 1.000 SLG%.  Lauren was close behind hitting .500, and Keri, Ashley M, Lori & Kinsey hit .333.  Our pitchers, Ashley M & Kinsey, combined with great defense, held the other teams' batting averages to .211 and .200 respectively.  We only had 2 errors, and they occured on the same player who was eventually stranded on base.  Great execution by all players.

After raining out our Friday night schedule, Mother Nature cooperated and gave us a beautiful weekend of softball!  We played from noon on Saturday until 6:30 pm on Sunday...we did go home to sleep Saturday night, though! Great games and good competition!  We want to thank all the teams that played in our tournament!  Thanks for rolling with us through the weather and bringing teams of such nice young women to play this weekend. For the tournament results go to the tournament page.

Cats had a good tournament finishing in 2nd place!  We beat some good teams and lost in a good game to the Fusion Gold in the championship game!  Good job to all the players and families for helping get this tournament played!
