Wrestling Banquet

Posted by Jodi Davis at May 7, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Salesianum Wrestling Banquet was held yesterday at the Chase Riverfront Center.  Thank you to all wrestlers, parents, family, and friends for supporting the team all season and attending the banquet.  Special thank you to Donna Silvestri-Fecondo for all of her efforts in coordinating and hosting the banquet.  Donna's dedication to the sport and love for Sallies is deeply appreciated by the entire Salesianum family.

The evening highlighted the accomplishments of the season and recognized each wrestler for efforts.  Coach Cameron Davis acknowledged varsity wrestlers and seniors in a speech with all varsity wrestlers then receiving their letters.  Coach Brandon Bailey then recognized the developmental team in a speech and then they received their letters.  Managers were also recognized for all of their efforts as well as our Athletic Director, Mike Hart and other supporting staff and administrators.  Special awards were then given out to wrestlers as voted on by the coaching staff.  Following the special awards, the senior wrestlers recognized each Coach as well as the legendary Coach John Rusnak, our moderator Father Spellman, and Donna Silvestri-Fecondo (our unofficial team mom).  During a touching moment, Coach Mike Thompson announced that this would be his last year with our team.  Coach Thompson and his wife, Megan are moving to Sussex County this summer.  Best of luck to both of them, they will be missed!  The evening concluded with a highlight video that included wrestling footage, pictures, coach's commentary, and even some acting by our Coach staff (complete with outtakes too!).  Overall it was a great evening.  Thank you to everyone!
