Rules I Clinic Recap
Hello All!
For those of you who participated in the Rules I weekend I want to thank you for being open minded. My desire will always be to push the envelope as we continue to take this Region to newer and greater levels. I have always asked for your candor on the evaluations and I thank you for all of your comments.
While most students acknowledged the benefits of an integrated approach to understanding how the rules would be applied in situations, the majority opinion was that a more traditional approach was what the students expected and desired. The PowerPoint training method used the last several years was more appropriate for brushing up on the material, preparing for the upcoming year and better utilized by new umpires as well as league officials.
Listening and hearing all of your input, we will be revising the Rule II weekend as follows:
A. The PowerPoint material will be updated and utilized as the foundation on Saturday;
B. The scenarios will be simplified and reduced to no more than two and presented Sunday We will continue to evaluate our presentations regularly and implement changes based on the comments provided by the students.
We thank you for your patience, your honesty and your understanding as we continue to strive for perfection.
Thank you,
Mark Bernstein Western Region UIC
