Team Photos & Snackstand Duty

Posted by Thomas Tyrer at Feb 26, 2010 1:49PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hi, Everyone,

Tracy asked me to post that our team photo will occur on Opening Day, Saturday March 6 at 2:30 p.m. at American Martyrs.

The Sun Devils parents will also have their snackstand duty between Tuesday, April 6 and Saturday, April 17. Please remember that, unless you bought out of snackstand duty, all parents are required to serve two shifts in order for their sons to play in the league. Also, when you registered this season, you granted MBLL the authority to charge $100 to your credit card should you fail to appear for your assigned shift. Tracy and Debbi will create a Sun Devils schedule soon, but count on those dates. Thanks.

Saturday Batting Practice (Slight Change)

Posted by Thomas Tyrer at Feb 25, 2010 3:34PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hi, Everyone,

Sorry for the second email, but our batting practice times on Saturday morning runs from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. so if you plan to attend, please come down for 20-30 minutes or so between those times.

Also, if there’s a dad (or mom) who wants to help by either providing some live pitching, feeding a pitching machine, or helping with some wiffle ball drills, I can certainly use the assist.

I hope to avoid having too many boys there at that same time, and then having them stand around waiting when they could be doing another batting drill. Thanks.

Saturday Batting Practice

Posted by Thomas Tyrer at Feb 25, 2010 10:10AM PST ( 0 Comments )

Dave can’t attend this Saturday morning’s first batting practice at the Dorsey cages, but I’ll be there working out with my sons if any Sun Devils want to get in some swings. We’ll be working primarily on fast hands and soft toss rather than firing up the machines. BP begins at 8 a.m. and my son Dylan plans to help out with some other drills. It’s best to stagger the kids, so feel free to bring your son for any half-hour interval inside of the 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. timeframe. Thanks.

FREE Mark Cresse Camp on SUNDAY

Posted by Thomas Tyrer at Feb 22, 2010 11:26AM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hi, Everyone,

This Sunday, Mark Cresse School of Baseball is offering two FREE clinics for MBLL players in Juniors, Majors, International, Coast and California levels. There’s a morning session from 10 to noon and an afternoon session from 1:30 to 3:30 Both are held at Marine East and Center fields, so there’s also easy parking.

Cresse coaches are all quite good, and they typically tailor their drills to both age and ability. While these sorts of clinics are often dominated by younger kids, any Sun Devils who attend will likely be put together in small groups of six to eight or so. It’s a lot of very sound fundamentals, so if you have the time, it’s definitely something worth doing.

If you want your son to attend, you need to register ahead of time so they know how many to expect. To do so, you can simply cut and paste this link or go to the league website at www.mbya.org.

See you at practice this Wednesday.

Center for Sports Ethics Players' Survey

Posted by Thomas Tyrer at Feb 18, 2010 10:47AM PST ( 0 Comments )

I wanted to call your attention to a new link on the top left corner of the Bulldogs home page. The link is titled "Ethics, Values & Sportsmanship," and will take you to the Center For Sports Ethic’s home page.

They have an interesting survey that I’d encourage all of the players to take. It’s all about situations and sportsmanship, and then there’s a great overall compilation study to show what other kids around the nation said.

It’s a great opportunity to discuss ethics, values and sportsmanship with your son.
