The Northville Mustangs faced off against the Cranbrook Cranes on February 18, 2004. The game started out rough for the Mustangs when Cranbrook scored a goal less than 2 minutes into the game. Cranbrook would add four more goals, in the first period, until the Mustangs finally found some offense. The first of the two Mustang goals came with five minutes left in the first period. Amy Cauzillo took a shot that was deflected by the goalie. Bridget Hughes picked up the rebound and passed it to Emily Doren, who redirected the puck into the net. The final Mustang goal came about 3 minutes later when the puck was bouncing around in front of the net off rebounds from Doren and Hughes. Meredith Ponder picked up the rebound and put another one past the goalie. This concluded the Mustang scoring for the night. The second period brought much intensity to the game with Cranbrook only scoring one. The third period was also relatively close until the last five minutes. Cranbrook scored with 4:23 left in the game. The Mustangs then put in backup goalie, Ashley Crawford, for the remaining four minutes. Cranbrook managed to score three goals within the three minutes. The final score was 10-2. The Mustangs prepare to face off against the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Come support the Mustangs!

Northville vs. Port Huron

Posted by Bill Holden at Feb 13, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
On Valentine's Day, the Northville Mustangs made the long drive out to face off again against the Port Huron Rebels. The first goal of the night was scored by Bridget Hughes after a pass across the middle from Amy Cauzillo. The next goal did not come until late in the second period when Meredith Ponder received a five minute major for slashing and the Mustangs were down a player. The Rebels took advantage of this and scored their first goal of the night. Just a minute after that, Hughes passed to Sam Pope. Pope headed down the ice 1 on 1 with a Rebel defender. Pope skated around the defender and then around the goalie to put the Mustangs back in the game. The goal was also shorthanded. After the intermission, the Mustangs came out strong with a goal from Jenny Forker to boost the spirits of the girls. The rebels striked back quickly, though. A 2nd and then a 3rd goal was scored by the Rebels to bring the game to a tie. There was only 2 mintues left in the period, and as the seconds winded down, everyone realized that the game was heading into overtime. The Mustangs are undefeated in overtime games(Liggett, and Ladywood), and tonight was to be no exception. Just two minutes into the overtime period, Amy Cauzillo came down the ice on a breakaway and put a shot past the Rebel goalie for the game winning goal! Congratulations girls and keep up the good work!!

Northville vs. PCS Penguins

Posted by Bill Holden at Feb 10, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
On Tuesday Night, the Northville faced off against the PCS Penguins. The game started off with an early goal for the Penguins as Northville goalie, Danielle Bigi, was screened and the puck slid in behind her for what would be the only goal of the night. The Mustangs had many shots on net in the first and second periods, but weren't able to come up with anything. The third period started off well for the Mustangs, but despite their efforts, they couldnt seem to score on the Penguins goalie. With one minute left, Northville tried one last desperate attempt to pull the goalie, but were unsuccessful in scoring. The girls played a great game and can't wait to scrimmage PCS on Friday the 27th. The girls' next game is at Port Huron this Saturday at 4pm.
