Northville vs. GPN (Playoff Game #2)

Grosse Pointe North and Northville played their quarterfinal game tuesday at 5:30. The game started off quick for the Norseman who scored their first goal just 53 seconds into the game. The Norseman struck again just 4 minutes later increasing their lead to 2-0. But the Mustangs weren't planning on giving up that quickly. Andrea Soloko grabbed the puck on a breakaway putting it past the North goalie for Northville's first goal of the game. North was quick to respond with a goal of their own. With two minutes left in the second period, Sam Pope fired a hard shot from the hashmarks, past the goalie into the back of the net. The two teams headed to the locker room with the score 3-2 in favor of Grosse Pointe. The third period was uneventful until with 5:30 left on the clock, Soloko put another goal in the net tying the game. As the seconds ticked down, both teams realized this game was going into overtime. A minute and a half into overtime, Sam Pope received a pass from Caitlyn Crawford and Pope put the puck in the goal winning the game for the Mustangs! Northville now advances to the semi-finals playing Cranbrook at 8pm on Thursday at Novi Ice Arena! Come support us!

Northville vs. Mercy (Playoff Game #1)

The Northville Mustangs squared off for their first playoff game on Saturday, March 6th against the Mercy Marlins. The game started off slowly but picked up after Amy Cauzillo scored the first goal for the Mustangs. Soon after that Meredith Ponder put one of her own in, making the score 2-0. Just 35 seconds later, Ponder was at it again, shoving a puck in the back of the net as it was sitting on the goal line. Mercy made a move in the third period scoring a goal of their own but the Mustangs were quick to respond, putting another goal past the Marlin goalie. This win moves Northville to the quarterfinals playing Grosse Point North on Tuesday at 530. The Mustangs are hosting this year's playoff so come support them!

Northville vs. Walled Lake

On Saturday, Feburary 28th the Walled Lake Wild and the Northville Mustangs met for the second night in a row. The first game ended in a victory for Northville on their senior night. The game started out rough for the Mustangs, letting in 3 goals in the first period adn only scoring one of their own. The second followed the same, with the wild scoring 2 goals and the mustangs scoring none. Finally, in the third period the Mustangs found themselves and began playing like a team. But at this point it was too late. The Mustangs put their back up goalie in and the Mustang offense continued to presure the Wild defense. Finally, Northville put some points on the board but not without letting a few go by them as well. The final score of the game was 10-4 with Walled Lake with a victory. The Mustangs first playoff game is Saturday, March 6th at 745 at Novi Ice Arena. Northville will be hosting this years' playoffs so come support us!

Northville vs. Walled Lake

Friday February 27, 2004 was senior night for the Mustangs as they faced off against the Walled Lake Wild. The Mustangs came out strong in the first period and dominated play. Amy Cauzillo had the first goal of the night off a pass from Andrea Soloko. Soloko passed the puck to Cauzillo who skated the puck up the ice for a goal. The Mustangs struck again four minutes later when Bridget Hughes passed the puck to Sam Pope. Pope took a hard one timer that flew right past the goalie. This gave the Mustangs a 2-0 lead going into the second period. The Wild were first to strike in the second period; however, the Mustangs quickly fought back with a goal of their own. Cauzillo passed the puck to Soloko who skated the puck up the ice and put it right past the goalie. The Wild responeded with another goal, making the score 3-2. The Wild scored thirty seconds into the third period, tying the score at 3. The Mustangs were quick to respond with a goal of their own fifteen seconds later. Jenny Forker took a shot at the net that was deflected by the goalie. Pope picked up the rebound and set it soaring into the net for a goal. The Mustangs struck again, this time on a power play. Pope passed the puck to Hughes who took a shot that flew past the goalie giving the Mustangs a 5-3 lead. The Wild scored once more, but the Mustangs were quick to respond. Hughes skated the puck around the defenders and took a hard shot right past the goalie to seal the game for the Mustangs. Congratulations on a good senior night!

Northville vs. Gross Pointe South

On February 25th, the Northville Mustangs faced off against the Lady Blue Devils in Detroit. Just 45 seconds into the game, the Lady Blue devils got their first goal of the night. However, the Mustangs were not slow to respond, 3 minutes later Amy Cauzillo took the puck up on one of her famous "end to end" rushes, tying up the game. At the end of the first, the game was still tied 1-1. At the start of the second, Andrea Soloko received a penalty for slashing putting the blue devils on a power play. Only a minute into the powerplay, the blue devils put another goal on the board. Shortly after, the blue devils scored again putting the game at 3-1. Two minutes later, Cauzillo was at it again, after receiving a pass from Sam Pope, deked around 2 defenders and then finally the goalie to bring the game to 3-2. Just before the intermission break, the Mustangs did not realize they only had 4 on the ice, and the Blue Devils took advantage of this oppurtunity creating a 2 goal lead. After the intermission, the Mustangs began to fall apart allowing 4 goals in the third period. The Mustangs next game is on Friday the 27th at Novi Ice Arena vs. Walled Lake. It's senior night, so come support the Mustangs!
