Posted by Bill Holden at Dec 27, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Northville's first annual Alumni game was played yesterday at Arctic Pond. It was the '03 and '04 alumni plus this season's senior Varsity players vs. the freshman, sophomores and juniors of the 04-05 Varsity team. It was a close game with the score ending up in favor of the Varsity team 8-6. Varsity started off the scoring with a shot by Andrea Soloko which deflected off 2003 graduate goalie ,Danielle Bigi. Rachel Reuter scored off the rebound for the first goal of the game. Varsity scored again with a breakaway goal for Andrea Soloko. The combined alumni/seniors finally put a goal past LeeCee Criswell late in the 1st and shortly after Andrea Soloko got another goal with an assist by Bridget Hughes. The game slowed down in the 2nd period as teh teams began to get tired. The Alumni/Senior team scored two goals (scored by Amy Cauzillo and assists to Allie Spencer ('03-'04) and Sam Pope) to even up the game at 3-3. Bridget Hughes was next to score for Varsity putting two goals in the back of the net in under 3 minutes. Soon after, Sam Pope and Amy Cauzillo each got goals for their team, tying up the game at 5-5. At the start of the third period, the game was tied but the final result would be 8-6 in favor of Varsity. Final goal tallies were Varsity: Andrea Soloko (4), Bridget Hughes (3) and Rachel Reuter (1), Alumni/Seniors: Amy Cauzillo (4), Sam Pope (2). This game was the beginning of a tradition we hope to keep alive as this hockey program continues to grow each year.

Posted by Bill Holden at Dec 22, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
After defeating the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen in the playoffs last year and earlier this season in the Liggett tournement, the Mustangs fell for the first time since last season to North, 2-1. It was a hard fought game up until the very last few minutes. North started the scoring in the second period. Early in the third period, Sam Pope made a pass to Andrea Soloko who backhanded it above the North goalie to tie the game. It was 1-1 and both teams fought hard until with 3:45 to go, North scored the last goal of the game. The next game between these two teams will be a tough match up. THe Mustangs take a break for Christmas and have our alumni game on Monday the 27th. Our next leauge game is January 5th against Port Huron.

Posted by Bill Holden at Dec 14, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Bloomfield Knighthawks and the Northville Mustangs played today at Arctic Pond in Plymouth. It didn't take long for the Mustangs to get a goal, at 14:35 Sam Pope made a pass from behind the net to Bridget Hughes who put it in the back of the net. The next goal came at 10:57 by Megan Beger from Sam Pope and Amy Cauzillo. By the end of the first teh score was 6-0. Other goals scored in the first were by Emily Doren, Amy Cauzillo, Sam Pope and Anjoli Saran. With assists by Bridget Hughes, Rachel Reuter, Andrea Soloko, Meredith Ponder and LeeCee Criswell. The second period was not nearly as exciting with just two goals scored. Kim Bagian from Andrea Soloko and LeeCee Criswell from Megan Beger and Marie McIntyre. It's imporant to note that LeeCee is Northville's starting goalie, therefore this marks her first goal ever. Laura Zima filled LeeCee's spot in tonights game. As the game drew to a close in the 3rd period, Heather Cox scored with just 2 minutes to go and Kristen Ruzylo finished off the 10-0 win with the last goal of the game. Next game is Saturday against PCS. The last time these two teams met, the game ended in Northville's favor in overtime. Come support us!

Northville vs. Ladywood

Posted by Bill Holden at Dec 7, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Mustangs fell to the Ladywood Blazers earlier tonight 6-2. This was not one of Northville's best games. Ladywood started out the game with two goals in teh first period. Northville, however, came back with two of their own, both scored by Sam Pope. After this, the Mustangs began to fall apart and Ladywood took advantage of this opportunity leaving the final score at Ladywood-6, Northville-2. The game this weekend against Regina has been cancelled so therefore our next game is Wednesday the 15th against the Bloomfield Knighthawks.
