It has been at least 4 years since the Cranes have won a regular season game vs the Lady Blue Devils, but they did it last night! LaGrasso showed why she was named "All-League" last year with a stellar performance, turning away 22 of 23 shots. Audrey had 2 goals 1 asst, Ariel had 1 goal 2 asst, Liz had 1 goal and 2 assists and Anna C had 3 assists. The defense played great with goals by Ari and Carolyn, and Pilar and Kelsey G each picking up an assist. Mooch finished the scoring with a nice goal to cap the victory. It was a well played game with lots of back and forth action, fun game to watch. Shots on goal were very close at 26-23. Our shots just found the back of the net. Great game girls!
Seniors Tarasai Karega and Hilary Schreiber were honored at the 3rd Annual Hockey Weekly High School All State Awards luncheon at Ginopolis inside Compuware Arena on Saturday afternoon. Former Red Wing and FSN Detroit TV analyst, Mickey Redmond, was the guest speaker. The first and second team all state players all received awards from Hockey Weekly, Louisville Hockey and Little Bill's Trophies. Tarasai was selected as Michigan's top female hockey player and received the Ms. Hockey award. Tarasai had a terrific career at Cranbrook. She was four-time first team all state, she scored 201 goals, earned 80 assists for 281 points in 89 games played. That is 3.16 points per game. The 201 goals and 281 points are league records. She had many game winning goals but none were as big as her double overtime goal in the state finals this year.
