Our annual league tournament is this coming weekend, June 23-25th. All games are at the Bridlewood Core Park diamonds. Core Park is in the Bridlewood section of Kanata, on the southwest side of the Stonehaven / Bridgestone intersection. See the "Locations" section of the web site for a map, and "Schedules" or "Calendar" for the game times. For games at diamond #2, there’s a new parking lot off Bridgestone just behind and beside the diamond. Turn south onto Bridgestone from Stonehaven and look for a small entrance just past the soccer fields. The #2 parking lot wasn’t there last season, so for games at diamond #2 you had to park at #1 and lug your stuff all the way over. For those that haven’t been to Core Park before, the entrance to the parking lot for diamond #1 is off Stonehaven just across from the Broadway, just on the east edge of the skateboard park. Friday night is our tournament pub night, held at the Broadway Bar & Grill just across from Core Park. Each team will get some food and beverages courtesy of the league, and we'll do our usual 50-50 draw. The Carp I4C Victory team from the intermediate league will be running a BBQ at the Core Park diamonds over the weekend. Most of the team members play in the GCMFL, so buy a couple of burgers or sausages from them and help them raise money to attend tournaments.

The league is in need of several players to fill spots vacated by those who have had to leave due to injury or personal reasons since the season began. We're in need of both pitchers and position players. If you're interested in playing, please fill out the appropriate form and fax it to 613-839-6580 (no cover page required).

Former players New players

The Registration Fee for those joining after the half-way point of the season is half of the normal $130 cost, or $65. Payment can be made either by cash or cheque; cheques should made payable to the "Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League" or simply "GCMFL". The regular season runs from May through August, with playoffs generally wrapping up in mid-September. There's also a mid-season tournament involving all of the teams near the end of June. All regular season games are played at the A.Y. Jackson diamond. Teams generally play one game a week on Mon/Tues/Wed evenings, although there are occasional games on Thursday nights also.

The league received a call from Ivan Taylor who has a team in the RA league. They are entered in a tournament this weekend in Quyon and need 3-4 players to flesh out their roster. Tournament is on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 AM with a guarantee of 3 games. Ivan says that the calibre is fairly competitive (open pitching).
