THE TREND CONTINUES....UGH!!!

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Sep 16, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer Players (and family):

We are starting the backhalf of our season today....boy, how time flies!

In week 5, we will definitely have our hands full as we play our highest ranked opponent of the season.  The Wayne Warriors have been ranked #4 in the area all season and come to us with a record of 7-2-0.  A very focused effort will be needed to compete in this match.

On Saturday, we travel to Greenville.  I am asking all players to arrive at 12:30 for pictures with Mr. Bange.  Everyone will need to be in their away uniforms upon arrival.  The bus will leave at 1:00pm.

This past week, we continued the trend of playing to the level of our competition.  We played a victorious match against the improved Fairborn Skyhawks.  It was enjoyable to get our first win of the season.  The second win escaped us as we allowed our arch-rivals, WC Pirates, to gain confidence in the match and come away with a 2-2 draw.

As we enter the second half of the season, I do want to congratulate the reserve squad for getting the right results.....a 5-1-1 record is excellent.  I want to congratulate the Varsity efforts on the defensive end as we have only allowed 11 goals so far this season.  This is a major improvement over last season.  Keep up the good work.

Lastly, I want to congratulate the coaches and parents for all their wonderful support of the program, volunteering and fundraising efforts.  We have done a lot of good things this year.....thank you, THANK YOU and thank you.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

STILL WAITING FOR THE FIRST VICTORY

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Sep 9, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer players (and family):

Today begins the 4th week of our season and we are still searching for our first "W".  My hope is that tomorrow will be the day.  Remember that we will have study table at 2:30 in the lecture room.  A meal will be provided prior to the bus leaving at 3:45pm.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED THIS WEEKEND WITH SOCCERFEST!!!

I want to specifically thank Betty Downing, Vickie Lakes and Kim Hayden for their coordination of this project.  You folks did a wonderful job and I really appreciate your effort.

I truly wish we could control the weather because it started out to be a great day and it looked like we had the makings for a GREAT crowd.  Oh well, maybe next year.

Our only match last week was a strong effort by the boys.  Butler is a very good team and we played them straight up the entire match.  I loved the passion that was demonstrated by each player.

This week we have our first conference match versus Fairborn.  Then on Thursday, we have our makeup match with West Carrollton at 7:00pm.

I want to send out a quick note of CONGRATULATIONS to our reserve players who have had a strong showing these first three weeks.  A record of 4-1-1 is very good and deserves some KUDOS...keep up the solid play!!!

FOR SOCCER,

Coach Ric
