THE TEAM OF THE 90'S
Head Coach Ric Campbell worked with three of the coaches who led the Vikings from 1990 to 1999 to select the "Team of the 90's". This collection of 18 players were selected from an initial list of 31 players. Seven were unanimous selections.
The Coach of the 90's is Mike Bozzo who led the Vikings from 1991 to 1994. He also was an assistant coach for several years. Mike had a career mark of 32-29-10 with the Vikings and won the first Sectional title in 1994.
Below are the top 18 players who represent the best Viking booters in our second decade of play:
Class of 1990 - *Matt Weiss and Bryan Kennard
Class of 1991 - *Matt Engleka
Class of 1992 - *Brian Gadd, Jeff Giffen and Mark Shirley

2011 ALUMNI GAME IS WET AND WILD
On Sunday, September 4th the Vikings held their annual alumni game. Thirty-five players came out to kick it around and for the second year in a row the Odd year graduates won 9-6. Just after halftime, the clouds opened up and a downpour hit the field, but the alumni just kept on playing.
Close to 100 fans surrounded the practice field to watch the former Vikings play. Many parents, spouses and children enjoyed seeing their Viking out on the field one more time.
The first half was dominated by the Odds as they led at half 5-2. One of the major factors was the fact that they had Derek Bush in goal, as he was the only true goalkeeper to show up. When the teams changed sides, the keepers did not change, thus giving the Evens Bush in goal. The second half was played end-to-end with both teams scoring 4 goals leading to the final score of 9-6.
Coach Campbell would like to thank Tony Phibbs, Mike Schenck, Eric Zech, Jerry Randolph, Chris Pursifull, Wayne Gilkison, Ted Morningstar, Tony Balsamo, Matt Weiss, Mike Bell, Matt Valiante, Derek Scott, David Coleman, Jason Stanley, Kevin Shields, Myles Scott, Ryan Smith, Nick Stanley, Derek Bush, David Schmolinsky, Matt Kuemmel, Jeremy Bush, Andrew Gray, Brian Van Arsdale, Jordan Graham, Nathan Wright, Orly Leiva, Daniel Wolcott, Andrew Hayden, Travis Campbell, Bank Plangwol, Jonathan Soto, Aaron Reichel, Jimmy Tuccillo and Ryan Padovani for being a part of alumni weekend. We hope you enjoyed our win over West Carrollton and playing once again.

WE ARE 90 DAYS OUT.......
Dear soccer players and families:
I can not believe how quickly the days go by and that we are less than 90 days away from tryouts. Just as perplexing is that the school year will be over in 4 weeks.
As I shared at our team meeting, YOU MUST BE 100% focused on your grades this quarter. You have four weeks left to make sure that you will be eligible in the fall. NOTHING counts except your fourth quarter grades. Make sure you do what you need to do academically.
I will be adding our conditioning and open field workouts for the summer on the website calendar soon. Remember that everything from now till August 1 is OPTIONAL, but the more you attend the better you will become. Give yourself the best chance possible to reach your potential.
Lastly, I encourage each of you to read our team "Core Values" every day. This will aid you in making sure that you make the right decisions on a daily basis. Do what is right.....be young men of great character, sons who can be counted on and individuals that give their best....first time, every time.
For Soccer,
Coach Ric
OFF-SEASON IS ALL ABOUT IMPROVEMENT
Dear Soccer Players and family;
As we start to focus on our off-season training, I encourage each one of you to write-down your individual goals and how you plan on attaining them. This will allow you to see every day in your own handwriting what you ARE GOING TO DO to improve.
I am always so excited at this time of the year because we have had our one-on-one meetings and have agreed on stretch goals to make you better. You have identified what you want for the fall and how you plan on getting to that point.
Right now, we have two players who are working to be All-District soccer players (Miamisburg has not had one since 1996). We have 9 players who want to earn Dayton South or GWOC South recognition and we have 12 young men who want to compete for a spot in the Varsity starting line-up. And we still have 7 more players who need to complete their meeting.
Needless to say, we have some great individual stretch goals in place. Now, we just need to do something every day to improve so that we have a chance to reach those goals. Our team goals have not changed in six years, but we have yet to accomplish all three in the same year. They are:
1) Win 10 regular season games
2) Win 2 tournament games
3) Win GWOC Conference championship
This could be the year for it all to be accomplished, to be the first to do it all.....to be the team to make history as the VERY BEST TEAM EVER. All it takes is every player reaching their potential.
For Soccer,
Coach Ric
