WRESTLERS BEGIN FUNDRAISING DRIVE

The Bound Brook Wrestlers who have committed to a steady effort on their
wrestling skills, have begun fund raising for their off-season activities.
This summer two wrestlers will compete at the Aasics Nationals. Eight others
are attending Ken Chertow¹s Gold Medal Wrestling Camp in Allentown,
Pennsylvania in August. Finally, the team will participate in the Old Bridge
Summer Duals.
In order to help these athletes with their costs, the wrestlers have
been given scratch off fund raising cards. These cards work by the wrestler
asking someone to scratch off two circles on the card and they must donate
the sums of money revealed in those circles. The circles have amounts
ranging from .50 to $3.00 and a person who participates is give coupons
worth up to $30.00. It¹s kind of like a lottery scratch card in reverse.
If you would like to participate in this fund raiser, you can help in
two ways:
1. You can call 732 627 0110 and speak with Corry or Marty. Ask to
play and they will scratch off two circles for you and tell you what amount
to send. They in turn will send you the coupon sheet.
2. You can call 732 627 0110 and ask to be a fund raiser. We will
send you one of the Bound Brook Wrestling scratch off cards and you can
solicit the donations. Try scooting around your work place or store
counter. Or hit up the relatives. How many times did you buy those damn
cookies and candy?!
The coupons include $5.00 off at Jiffy Lube. Discounts at GNC, TCBY,
Pizza Hut and movie tickets. There are also offers for Blimpie and Mrs.
Fields and J.C. Penny Portraits.
Any donation is appreciated and checks can be made payable to the Bound
Brook Wrestling Club.

PETE SCHYULER RETURNS TO GIVE CLINIC
Posted by Martin Gleason at Jun 19, 2002 5:00PM PDT

A special opportunity was presented to Bound Brook Wrestlers on June 10,
2002 as Franklin and Marshall Head Coach Pete Schyuler returned to BBHS for
a technique clinic.
Fifteen present, future and past BBHS wrestlers got to learn some great
tips on offensive technique and insight to the work it takes to be a top
notch wrestler.
As most of you know, Pete was our last State Champion and was a Captain
on the last undefeated wrestling team at BBHS. Pete attended Lehigh
University where he placed third in the nation and won two EIWA titles. Pete
has coached at James Madison University and the U.S. Naval Academy, before
accepting the head coaching position at F&M.
Coach Schyuler spoke about how perfection of one move can take doing the
same motion 150 times a day! Technique covered on the feet included motion
and set-ups to take downs. Shots off of the Russian tie and underhook and
shots after missing your first shot.
On the mat Pete showed his Opatented¹ punishing leg attack. Painfully
apparent for his workout partner was his emphasis on keeping your hips in
the small of your opponent¹s back, and keeping your back arched and head up.
Many parents were able to enjoy part of the clinic, as they were at the
school for the Smalley School band concert.
The coaches were proud that only two of the current high school
wrestlers missed the clinic and hope the wrestlers build off this great
experience. The team needs this type of attendance to fulfill their destiny.
Pictures of the clinic will be available on the Bound Brook Wrestling
web site.
Brad Galeta has been named to the New Jersey Freestyle All-Star team
which will wrestle at the National Junior Duals in Stillwater, Oklahoma from
June 21st to the 23rd.
18 wrestlers were selected from New Jersey and Brad was chosen for the
125 lbs spot. Teams from 25 states will participate for a team title which
is sponsored by USA Wrestling.
Brad will use this experience to prepare for the Aasics Junior/Cadet
Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota at the end of July. He and Andrew Flanagan
have qualified for Team New Jersey and will try to earn All-American status
at the largest wrestling tournament in the world.
The Junior/Cadet Nationals takes place in the Fargodome, the indoor
football stadium of North Dakota State University. Twenty five mats are
needed and weight classes can have as many as 130 wrestlers and only eight
wrestlers can obtain All American status. Wow!
