Clear Lake cruised to an easy victory in the first round of the Baytown Lee College Classic Tournament. Lake faces Oak Ridge (Conroe) at 8 p.m. Friday night.

There were 6 lead changes and the game was tied 7 times. The final tie was with 21 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Poor free throw shooting and abysmal 3 point shooting by Lake caused it to be closer than it should have been.

Just when fans start to think that Clear Lake is in for a mediocre season the team puts on an impressive display of basketball to demonstrate what they can do when they are mentally prepared and in harmony with their teammates. Tonight in the Aldine MacArthur gym the Falcons put on an impressive display of team basketball. Great rebounding combined with stellar outside shooting led by Rob Lewis and his teammates. Alden Miles played his first varsity basketball game. Paris Clayton had 8 assists! Gabe Lavespere had 13 rebounds(double double)! 26.2% of the points scored came from Lake's bench!

Clear Lake 51 - Oak Ridge 58 

Game 2 of the Lee College Classic

Clear Lake started out right against a very good Oak Ridge team (9-1) by taking an early lead and widening the gap to as much as 19 points with superlative play in the first half. At the half it was 34-21 in Lake's favor.

In the second half Ridge staged a valiant comeback and closed the gap early in the fourth period.  The game was tied 4 times in the final quarter and the lead changed 3 times. At the 2:08 mark in the fourth quarter Lake never regained the lead.

Weak 3 point shooting and poor free throw shooting again plagued the Falcons and made the difference in the game. Oak Ridge is an excellent free throw shooting team and hit 20 of 26 for the outing. Depth of Lake's bench was not as much of a factor in the game as it should have been.
