Falcons Garner First Win in New Venue

Posted by Donald Wilkerson at Nov 14, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Lake 71, Milby 55

Due to Field House Inauguration ceremonies and the volume of pictures to be sorted through taken at the reception and the ceremony, there will an abbreviated article for the Milby game.
Clear Lake has a very good basketball team this season. Despite a less-than-expected  performance by the Falcons and dismal shooting from the field, the Falcons brought home the first win for the Boys Varsity in the new Bill Krueger Field House. (shooting from the field: 3 point attempts - 13%; 2 point attempts 44%; free throws missed: 12). All the fanfare surrounding the inauguration ceremonies, the late start, and the first game of the season could be the explanation for the so-so showing by the Falcons. Regardless of that, thanks for bringing home the win, fellas. Let's hope this one will be the one weak outing the Falcons have this season and be glad it is behind us.

This team is capable of really impressing the crowd although the college scouts in the gym tonight will have to return to see it. But we should not lose sight of the fact that Clear Lake scored 71 points in the season opener and Milby trailed throughout the contest. It's just that our expectations for this team are very high. Let's be patient.

Standout performances by Fulton Brisco, RJ Turner, and Kendrell Thompson helped the crowd retain some interest in the matchup. Kendrell  led all scorers with 22 points and 8 rebounds (5 steals,  6 of 17 from the field). Fulton had 15 points and 7 rebounds and RJ  had 15 points and 4 rebounds.

The Falcons face off against Sam Rayburn Thursday morning at Sam Rayburn High School in the McDonalds Texas Invitational Tournament.

Individual Scoring:
Armie Lewis 8 (4 steals), Christian Enriquez 6 (although he was robbed of one basket), Steven Hartman 4 (3 steals), Jimmy Witten 1 (5 assists). Andrew Gorie did not play due to injury.

STATS are complete for this game.
