Valencia 54 - Clear Lake 52
Valencia 54 - Clear Lake 52
This was a very close ball game despite Clear Lake coming out very dull in the first quarter and being down 16-2 before they got it in gear. Being out-rebounded 13-4 in the first quarter did not help either but Lake came on in the second to pull to within 7 at halftime.
In the third quarter Lake outplayed Valencia on both ends of the court and was up by 6 (39-33) to close the quarter. There were five ties in the second half with the last at 45 points with 2:54 remaining in the game. Valencia held a narrow lead until the final moments of the game when Jacob Horton hit a trey with under 8 seconds remaining to put the Falcons ahead 52-51. Valencia in-bounded the ball but was forced to immediately call timeout with 4.8 seconds remaining due to Lake defensive pressure. The refs added time to reset the clock at 5.4 seconds for the inbounds play. Valencia's #20 dribbled down and lofted a Hail Mary from the right wing. The shot appeared to have little chance of going in as the buzzer sounded with the ball in mid-air but in it went to force a Falcon loss in a heart-breaker.
The Falcons next game will be Monday at 4:30 p.m.
