RAMS MAKE BYRNES WORK FOR WIN
The Hillcrest Rams had a strong performance against the Byrnes Rebels on Friday night, as they held the 24th-ranked team in the nation to 38 points. The Rams shut down the Rebels' running game, holding them to 57 yards rushing, and made them rely on big pass plays to score. The Rams scored 20 points on three touchdowns: 67- and 69-yard runs by Chris Merril with PAT's by Anthony Willard and a 50-yard run by kicker Kory Pippin on a fake punt (his first touchdown--Yeah Kory!), and a missed PAT. Quoted on Greenvilleonline.com, Byrnes' Coach Chris Miller said, "They did some things to us, and their coaching staff did a great job." WAY TO HANG IN THERE, GUYS! WE LOVE YOU!!
**Chris Merrill's performance on Friday night lifted him to 2nd in rushing yards in the Upstate. He has 944 yards on 147 carries. Congratulations, Chris**
Rams Stun T.L. Hanna
Rams Fourth Quarter Comeback Stuns T.L. Hanna
With Hanna leading 15-9 late in the fourth Quarter, and with the Yellow Jacket's in possession of the ball, Patrick Neeley intercepted a pass and returned it to Hanna's 2-yard line. Tony Thompson followed with a QB keeper for the TD to tie the game. With the pressure of a previously blocked PAT & a blocked Field Goal attempt, and less than one minute remaining, Taylor King split the uprights to seal a hard fought "RAMS" victory.
