News and Announcements

Playing their best game of the season, the Cougars battled back twice to tie the score and send the game to Over Time, but in OT, El Capitan scored the game winner on a header from a corner kick. Down 1-0 going into halftime, the Cougars came out in the second half fired up and scored when Freshman JENNA HUGHES battled in front of the box and scored her first Varsity goal and tying the game 1-1. Minutes later, El Capitan scored to make it 2-1, but 15 minutes left, Freshman PAIGE NEVILLE was fouled hard in the box and Senior ALYSSA LLANOS in her last game knocked the PK deep into the net, sending the game into overtime. "I have never been more nervous in my life," stated Alyssa later.
In overtime, El Capitan ended the young Cougars fairy tell run in CIF. Coach Charlie stated, "I have never more proud of a team then I am of this one. To battle back twice to tie the game, go to Overtime in the CIF playoffs, says more of this team's heart, intestinal fortitude, and desire then any score. They were truly inspiring!" Starting 3 freshman, 4 sophomores, 2 juniors, 2 seniors and with 18 of the 22 players returning next year, and with all of the great players on JV looking to make the team next year. Coach Charlie said, "It's gonna be interesting next year, there are so many great players in the program, nothing but good can come from this CIF experience. It's gonna be fun! Is it November yet!!"
