The Minutemen will looking for revenge this Saturday, August 11th. The Boston Bandits up-ended the Minutemen by narrow victories last season. 1 during the regular season and 1 during the post. With the huge loss last week-end a top the two losses last year, The Minutemen will be looking for some pay back. Come and cheer on the Minutemen during their season home opener.
The Minutemen's Season Opener vs. the Lowell Nor'Easters ended up in a depressing loss. 38-0. With the tempature rising and the humidity unbearable, the Minutemen provided the 2000 NEFL Champs with a challenge despite the score. Rookie QB, Glenn Johnson, showed promise. The offensive line provided plenty of protection but 4 interceptions cost the "Men" dearly. The Lowell team capitalized on all ints. Rookie running back Damien Edwards and power fullback Jay "The Ram" Pearson, provided huge running plays. Rookie Slot Back, Glenn McCory, showed his talent in making great plays as well as Veteran, Vernald James. Veteran Tight End, Bruce Denietolis, showed his ability to make big things happen when needed. Although the offense worked well, they did leave the Defense on the field too long. Despite the extreme tempatures, the defense only allowed the Nor'Easters to power down the field one time which resulted in a field goal. Great plays were made by Rookie D-Ends, Anthony Neves and Aubry Souza. The line rotated with veterans, Dave Bishop, J.D., and Captain Ruben Costa. Veterans, Captain, Pete Canuto, Eric Riley, and Captain, Brian Johnson did a great job in their linebacker spots w/ Costa substituting in as well. DB's Roger Jallete and Mike Blair each scored ints. Veteran Jovan Smith and Rookies, Hippo Goldsberg and Dudley Macharie, proveided excellent performance in their DB position. Head Coach, Ronnie Lippett, as well as the other coaches, praised the team on their performance but reminded them that hard work would be needed to correct the mistakes.
