Sentinels defeat the Seacoast Hawks!!!

Posted by Ruben Costa at Aug 10, 2002 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Sentinels pulled their first victory of the season this past Saturday. 19-13. A truly great battle between both teams. QB, Rich Boss #13, connected with his receivers for all 3 TD's. WR, Ray-Shawn Link, #3 had 2 Receptions for TD's and TE Casey Handfield, #89 rumbled for a 45yd. score while running over the Hawks secondary. Link led the receivers with over 100 yards receiving. Jason Pearson, #44 led the team in rushing with an average of 7.2 yds. per carry.. Despite the fact that there were some changes on the O-line, the line did a great job of protecting the QB. We wish Xavier Caruthers, #65 Guard, a speedy recovery. The defense had an exceptional day! The new linebacker core of Damion Edwards, #34, Jason Pearson-#44, and Ruben Costa #59 performed a tremendous job! Edwards had his best day yet!!! The D-Backs had a spectacular day. The front 4 led by Terrance Butler and Cornelius Adams put an incredible amount of pressure on the QB!!! We wish cornerback, Hippo Goldsberg #21 a quick comeback. Overall, a great game. The Sentinels extend their best wishes to Seacoast Hawks player #20 who suffered a serious leg injury.
The Southern Maine Raging Bulls Home Opener on Sunday @ 4pm proved to be a disappointing loss. 21-0. However, The crowd base was fantastic and they showed great spirit. The press we received was fantastic and the radio show was first class. Thanks WOON 1240 am. Lou Mandeville and Gil Lefort were top notch. Great Job! Special thanks to ABC Chan. 6., The Call, Scott Weider-photographer and Joe Nadeau-, and the Providence Journal! Onward we go! Another battle awaits the Sentinels this Saturday againt the Seacoast Hawks. 8pm at Lawrence Stadium exit 42b off of Rt.495

The Sentinels took on the Lowell Nor'Easters this past Saturday at 4:00pm in the Annual NEFL Jamboree. The Sentinels defeated the 2001 10-0 team with a 8-0 VICTORY!!! The defense popped the ball free and Jack Robinson picked the ball up and scored on a 30 yd. scramble. Then the offense scored the 2 pnt. conv. w/ QB Josh Hares connecting with Jake Thompson. The defense showed a lot of heart and the offense showed it can move the ball. Congrats to the Sentinels. We may be the former Bellingham team but we are new and improved!!! A new city, new management, some new coaches, new players, a new name, and new ???...NEFL LOOK OUT!!! The Sentinels are Coming!!!

Team Tryouts: True Success

Posted by Ruben Costa at Jun 21, 2002 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The tryouts on Saturday June 22nd proved to be more than a tryout. The Sentinels were fortunate to have 12 new people come out and try to fill the remaining spots on the squad. There was a lot of heart and soul shown on the field. The Sentinels staff was very pleased with the athletic ability of the guys who attended the event. Thanks to newspapers The Call and the Providence Journal and WOON Radio for their support. The Sentinels were also blessed with the appearance of News Station Channel 10 who was providing serious sports coverage. A huge blessing for the squad. Thanks to all the veterans for helping out. Captains Costa, Hippo Goldsberg, and Xavier Caruthers gave a lot of support to the team candidates.
