Woonsocket Sentinel Golf Tournament

Posted by Ruben Costa at Jul 8, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Sentinels hosted their Annual Golf Tournament at the New England Country Club in Bellingham, MA. This Golf Course is a stop on the Sr. PGA Tour!!! The date was Monday, July 7th. Proceeds from this tournament will go to The new BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB of Woonsocket!!! Director of Marketing, Al Grenon did an Outstanding job putting together this first class tournament together. Way to GO!!! Gary Stiffler and Crew were defeated as Sentinel Golf Champs but tied for second with Steve Grogan's Team. Overall, there were prizes galore and lots of laughs. (If you witnessed Ruben playing golf, Jason Pearson driving a golf cart, or Coach Tim throwing Golf Clubs, then you understand.) Next year will be even bigger and better. Special thanks to our Cheerleaders, Mindy Cote and Lynn Palin. Special thanks to all who participated. The bottom line figure is still being figured out but it will be a substantial amount of money.

Softball Game a Smash!!!

Posted by Ruben Costa at Jun 30, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Boys and Girls Club of Woonsocket Charity Softball Game held on June 21st was a great success. $625 was raised for the cause. The National Anthem was sung by Woonsocket's Local Entertainer, Noel A. Pincince, former Mayor Extradonaire, Charlie Baldelli served as the guest announcer, and Rick Methot (Capt. Costa's Cousin) served as the "Non Partial" Umpire. The Sentinel Cheerleaders, headed by Coach Dawn Castonguay, made their first ever appearance and were greated warmly which was certainly needed considering the chilly evening. Nice outfits by the way, You looked great!!! The Sent's Offense certainly challenged the Boys in Blue and put up fight but the local police outshooted the "O" and won the game in extra innings. The Sent's Defensive unit was hosed down by the City's Fire Unit despite a 3 run Homer in the 1st inning by Linebacker, Joe Rousseau. The Defense's fire was put out early but fun was had by all. The Sentinelos would like to thank the Local Police and Fire for helping out with the cause. The Boys and Girls Club of Woonsocket couldn't help but praise our organization!!! Way to go Sentinels!!! A great job helping out tomorrow's heroes!

The Sentinels are owned and operated by a professional management staff who have ties with NFL and NCAA organizations. The Team President is the infamous, #14 Steve Grogan, former QB for the NE Patriots. The team's founder is the late Jack McCarthy, who is one of the original owners of the "Boston Patriots". We will miss you Jack! The team is coordinated and managed by Ruben Costa, a well known resident of Woonsocket. Ruben has years of experience in developing award winning organizations. Tim Lynch who has coached with several top notch colleges and has attended some of the best training camps around will serve as this year's Head Coach.
