2003 SEASON OUTLOOK

Posted by Richard Boss at Jul 23, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hello Sentinel Faithful, AHH..., It's that time of year again, finally something to watch besides baseball. Well, the 2003 Sentinels are retooled and amped up for run at the playoffs following an underacheiving 2002 campaign. Many changes have taken place that ensure we will, at the very least, be a sight to see. Coaches Tim Lynch, Nelson Lucca and Derek Grey have dedicated themselves to the team through their commitment and knowledge. They have ensured that the Sentinels will play hard and play tough every down. The offensive side of the ball presents a quaility mix of veterans and first year players that will offer a completely new dynamic. 2002 QB and co-captain Rich Boss returns home to WR to make room for his Worcester State College days gunslinger and former Uxbridge High star Dan "The General" Hanson. Joining Boss in the upgraded receiving corps will be 2001 Minuteman, Aaron Roy and former Villinovian and Nichols College Buffalo, John "Wheels" Lynch. The backfield will return veteren TBs Roy Dickerson of Bridgewater State and former Burriville workhorse Jay Pearson. The fullback slot will be manned by tough gritty newcomers Curt McCury and Colin Steele. The offensive line is sure to provide optimum protection for Hanson and a tough blue collar attitude in the run game. The heart of the line lies in vets Christian Samuel and Leon Glover. Bridgewater State's Terrence Butler makes the move from D to join the hogs up front. The rest of the O line is rounded out with '02 vets Brian Johnson, "X-Man" Carruthers, first year former Rutgers lineman Julien Ross and Worcester State's Adam Benard. The TE spot will be handled by the former Assumption Greyhound, Casey "Freight Train" Handfield. The Defense is nothing short of athletic. The unit is spearheaded by team leader and co-captain linebacker Ruben Costa. Along side Costa will be tackling machines Chad "On/Off" Malmberg, Salve Regina standout Joe Rousseau, and Medway's John Fasolino. The D line will feature a conglomerate of talent led by the elusive veteren Dolphy Morrison. Joining Morrison up front will be new comers Kevin "Fester" Chiefello, Gary Barr, James Kugel, Danny Sasserville and a member of Woonsockets Bravest, Mike Williams. The revamped secondary brings to the table flat out speed. Leading the D backs will be savy veteren Jay Jones. Playing along side Jones will be vetern Glenn Johnson and first years John "Blaze" Carr, Greg Enochs, Ken Lewis, Woonsocket favorite Sylvester Cyler and Stevie Garcet. The Kicking game will again be handled by Mike "Papa Smurf" Roch who promises to make all his extra points! Much hard work has been done by a good number of people to turn this ship around. The Sentinels have all the pieces in place to deliver you a winner on the field and play some exiciting football. So please join us as we take the field on Sunday, July 27 at 5:00 PM versus the Haverill Crush at Barry Field. It'll be a blast! p.s. The roster is currently under construction and will be updated soon so check back for a full roster.
