Elite Division Definetly "Elite"

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 8, 2002 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Cobalts 2002 Roy Hobbs World Series came to an end Friday with a 9-4 loss to defending champions, the Akron A's. Mike Wagner was voted MVP, after pitching 10 innings, gaining the victory over New Jersey, and leading all offensive stats with a .725 On-Base Average and 2 homers. The Cobalts competed against the "best of the best" this year and proved themselves as a worthy contender (coming close to beating this year's champions, Pittsburgh 8-6). Cobalts played excellent defense against the Elite Division's superior offensive power which helped keep the Cobalts close in every game. Highlights included: * Mike Wagner's overall performance * Doug Michelsen's incredible defense at 3rd * Todd Hiler and Tom Taylor's 6 double plays * Tim Klanke's bomb off former major leaguer Don Carmen (Reds/Phillies) * Brian Akers sacrificing his body for the cause * Glen Hock's "stand-up routine" * Willy, just being Willy Thanks to ALL Cobalts and their friends and families for another great trip!imageimageimage

Rough Start for Cobalts

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 3, 2002 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
In an Opening Day nail-biter the Cobalts blew a 4-1 lead and the bats when cold after the 6th inning in a 6-4 loss to Border City Brewers (last year's World Series runner up). The second game was less exciting as Jet Box (Detroit) put an 11-1 hurting on the 'Balts. Many Anheuser-Busch products dulled the pain as the Cobalts prepare to try again tonight vs. Pittsburgh.
