The same team the Cobalts will play against this Spring and managed by Chris Sabo. Wags originally signed with the SD Padres after playing for Michigan State. We give congrats to Wags for still pursuing the dream but we and the 'Toppers will miss him this coming year. Good luck Wags!!!image

Jimmy Jam Retires

Posted by Mark Dietz at Mar 10, 2003 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
At the ripe old age of 25, Jimmy B. has decided to hang up the spikes and chase smaller balls...with dimples. Jim has been a key member of the CoBALTS infield and batting order over the past 5 years. We'll miss him but wish him well in his quest for The Green Jacket. Hit 'em straight, Jimmy! image

2003 Roster Shaping Up

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jan 30, 2003 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
CoBALTS have been busy this Winter, securing new roster members and welcoming back key CoBALT veterans: First: We welcome Mike Harris. A former Ohio St. Buckeye, Mike has been in the Yankee organization for several years but has decided to "step up" to the CoBALTS (and get married, get a day job, etc.) We look forward to Mike adding strength to our middle infield and hitting in the top 3rd of the lineup. Mike joins 2nd year standouts Steve Stigler and Joe Spriggs and 3rd year star shortstop Todd Hiler as examples of CoBALT continuing improvements...Welcome aboard Mike! Secondly: We are excited to have Paul Krause returning to the rotation. Paul dominated the CRC in the mid-late '90s leading the Cobalts to many key victories. In joining a healthy TR O'Brien, a stronger Shannon Morgan, and perfect game thrower Vic Carreon, the CoBALTS look to again have one of the strongest staffs in Ohio. Third: Andrew Dietchel will be making a comeback with the CoBALTS. Dietch's strong outfield arm and high on-base average will be nice to have back in a CoBALT uniform. Along with our "core" CoBALT squad, the 2003 Season looks like one for the record books.
