Stranding Runners Leads to Split Decision

Posted by Mark Dietz at May 8, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Cobalts went "Gilligan" on themselves by stranding 7 base runners in 3 critical innings thus falling to the Cleveland Bulls 6-3. Shannon Morgan, the Cobalt starter, was again strong in 4 innings and deserved a better fate. Shane Schirmer pitched well in relief. In Game 2 the Cobalts came back to give Jimmy Mullinex his first Cobalt victory by beating the Dayton Braves 12-8. Strong middle relief from Jason Frisch and a solid offensive day from Aaron Schweitzer and Steve Stigler helped secure the win. Thanks to Cheviot Patriots

Posted by Mark Dietz at Mar 28, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Hats off to the Cheviot Patriots and their coach, Tim Oakes, for the use of Memorial Field and good solid competition in our first action of 2004. Cobalts looked comfortable using the wood sticks (W, 10-5) highlighted by Joe Spriggs Monster going deep into the left field screen and Boo Rachel going 4-5 (2 doubles). Strong pitching from Shannon Morgan, Shane Schirmer, Keith Becker, and the Stiggs&Spriggs combo. Cheviot Patriots are looking for any and all basebal veterans to join them in a Memorial Day Event. Check out their web site as Tim Oakes leads both the team and the facility back to prominence: www.eteamz.com/cheviotpatriots http://www.communitypress.com/CheviotOH/News.aspimage

MORE...Armed and Dangerous !

Posted by Mark Dietz at Feb 25, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Cincinnati Cobalts have been known throughout their 15 year history as having one of the strongest Pitching Staffs in Southwest Ohio. Well, year 16 should be NO DIFFERENT given the addition of Nate Zetler to the Cobalt Staff. Nate comes to the Cobalts via the Florence Freedom of the Pioneer Professional Baseball League where he was a key starting pitcher. And, Keith Becker has joined the Cobalts after taking off a year to bulk-up and improve on his already "ridiculous" heat. Zetler and Becker make for nice additions to a Cobalt Staff that already includes: Paul Krause, Shannon Morgan, Victor Carreon, Shane Schirmer, and Mick & Scrote. image
