Morgan the Magician Dazzles College Stars

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 2, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Shannon Morgan came up HUGE again for the Cobalts in a 2-1 Complete Game victory over the Cincinnati Stars. The Stars are a perenial NABF College World Series powerhouse but were held to only 2 hits by the "magical stuff" of Morgan. The scoring for the Cobalts was all thanks to catcher John Ruebel and his second inning smash triple scoring Spriggs Monster from first. Cobalts now stand at 9-3 but face another tough challenge tonight against the ranked Cheviot Patriots (Roselawn, 8:30, wear blue). image

Good Game Gone Wrong

Posted by Mark Dietz at May 29, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Cobalts ruined a terrific outing by Keith Becker (2 hits 7 innings) losing to the Ohio Woodpeckers in the Sunday Semi Final Game of the Memorial Day Tournament. Boo Rachel put the Cobalts up 3-1 in the 8th inning with a 3 run blast but the bullpen did not answer the call giving up a final loss of 6-4. Earlier Tournament action: the Cobalts defeated the Hilliard Indians (4 to 3) and Dayton Angels (7-0 forfeit) after losing a 4-3 game to the Columbus Sharks. So...Cobalts stand a disappointing 8-3 and Coach is still looking to shake this Evil Tournament Hex before he gauges his eyes out. Next up: WEDS: Cincy Stars 8:30 Roselawn (wear gold) Thur: Cheviot Patriots 8:30 Roselawn (wear blue) Fri: Mustangs 8:30 Roselawn (wear gold)image

Cobalts Consider Growing Rice

Posted by Mark Dietz at May 27, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Thanks to the constant Cambodia-like weather in the Tri State this Spring, the Cobalts tried to hitch up a couple of their more stout fellas (we know who they are) to a plow and grow rice on what used to be ball fields. The unfortunate incident (pictured left) created quite a stir with the locals at Roselawn Park. FRIDAY NIGHT CANCELLED ALSO! (makes 3 in a row and 6 out of 8 games)image

CoBALTS Win Double-Header, Now 6-1

Posted by Mark Dietz at May 21, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Shannon Morgan and Jason Fritsch combined in Game 1 Friday night to blank the Barons 9-0. In Game 2 the Paul Krause and Sean Aichele combo was too much for the TS Bulls in an 8-2 Win. Going "Yard" was the Spriggs Monster versus the Barons. Dougy and Mulves added multiple doubles to seal the deal. Nick-o Fritsch stole 2nd/3rd/Home on 3 straight pitches versus the Bulls to "put a fork" into the rambunctious Bulls coaches and fans. Defensive gems turned in from Capt. Bo Stineman and Aaron Schweitzer. Next up: Weds. 6:30 at Roselawn wearing Gold versus Cincy Challenge.image
