Cobalts Win Again Over Hilltoppers, 5-2

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 17, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The CoBALT pitching staff and defense held off the Nationally Ranked Hilltopper Hitters to take a 2 game lead in the head-to-head annual Quatman Trophy competition. Starter Keith Becker got rudely tossed by the ump (along with Coach) in the 3rd which left the mound to the "Ever Ready" Shannon Morgan who was coming off 13 hours rest after pitching 7 complete in the Montgomery Inn victory. Shannon "humped it up" and got the win after allowing only 1 run in three innings. TR O'Brien got the save. TR's save was aided by the leather flashed in centerfield by Cal Battle. CoBALTS move to 14-5 for the season and we are proud to just try real hard. image

Midland Warriors were the latest team to resurrect Cy Young from his grave to hold the Cobalts down in a 2-1 loss that wasted Steve Stigler's 7 inning gutty pitching performance. Paul Krause got the Win in a rain shortened 2-0 Win over the Receptions squad. Joe Spriggs Monster was cleaning-up the dishes on the offense. Cobalts need to find the sticks or Coach is going to install the "All Pitchers" line-up to break the scoring slump... TR, get loose! image

After 1 Month, Cobalts Stand 10-4

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 7, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Beating the Cincinnati Mustangs 8-7 but dropping to the hard hitting Cheviot Patriots last week have the Cobalts 10-4 overall after one full month of play. The Cheviot game was indicitive of all 4 losses this year as the Cobalts just keep searching for that BIG hit with runners in scoring position. Hats off to the Patriots who are 11-1 and looking strong. In the Mustang win, new-comers Jimmy Mullinex and Tony Shaffner combined on the hill for the victory.
