16-5 and Feelin Fine - Right Dougy?

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 23, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
CoBALTS welcomed back their 12 year veteran 3rd baseman Wednesday night, Doug Michelsen, who is back after 4 weeks of spinal therapy and lead the CoBALTS to a 6-0 Win over the Crosley Sports squad. Ruptured disk or not, didn't seem to bother neither his hitting (2-3. with 3 RBI's) nor his post-gaming (3 ML's, 3 Natches). Doug is now batting .585 on the season and looks to keep getting stronger. Sean Aichel was impressive in the start and gets the Win. Tony Shaffner worked a very strong 3 innings in relief to seal the shutout. Other highlights: Joe Spriggs Monster barely avoided ambulatory care during a scary moment at the plate (depicted here).imageimage

INTERNATIONAL CoBALTS! O' Canada, Here We Come!

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 23, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Well, nothing like a few Wins to get your confidence up - so the CoBALTS have officially accepted the Grand Forks International Baseball Tournament invitation (Sept 1 - 6). Check out the Tournament web site: www.grandforksbaseball.com by clicking on their logo. (even a little news article on the CoBALTS recent re-discovery of their bats) CoBALTS will be the first Ohio team to be represented in the British Columbia Classic. Wish the boys well as they travel across the globe spreading CoBALT Goodwill wherever they go... "WOW!" imageimage
Wether it was: a) the threat of an all pitcher batting order b) the re-found love in Spriggs Monster's life c) the spark generated by Cal Battle at lead-off d) or, Jason Giuste's chant of "Bo Who?" It doesn't matter - the CoBALTS looked healthy again against Jeff's Pharmacy in a 10-1 convincing victory. Paul Krause got his 3rd Win of the season in a dominating performance - Striking out 10. The offense was lead by Captain Bo, Cal Battle, and The Monster. CoBALTS now stand 15-5 and would like to say "hello" to all the fans, including Ace, who have stuck by them thru thick and thin.image
