CoBALTS' Win Stopped Short by Rain

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 30, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Shawn Aichele was "perfect" into the 4th inning against the Cincinnati Stars in the Semi Finals of the AABC. The CoBALTS went up 2-0 in a third inning rally started by the hot hitting Aaron Schweitzer. The AABC State Tournament is declared "finished" due to rain with the final 4 teams declared "Quad-Co-Champs" (I made that up but sounds good). Next Up: Weds. night: NABF Regional Tournament (time/opponent TBD) image

Morgan and CoBALTS Win Pitching Duel in 9

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 28, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Shannon Morgan came up LARGE again for the Cobalts in an unbelievable 9 inning, 9 strikeout shutout 1-0 Win over Yorkville in Game 3 of the AABC. Hats off to the Yorkville Team and their pitcher who fought tooth-and-nail in the "Titanic Struggle." Solid leather flashed by Doug Michelsen, RJ Niemer, and Aaron Schweitzer helped preserve the shutout. Offensive highlights came in the 9th when Aaron Schweitzer lead off with a hit and was moved to 3rd base on Steve Stigler's knock to right. Then the old double-steal brought home the winning run when Schweitzy found the plate with a tremendous slide around the tag at home. CoBALTS now stand at 27-10 on the season. Next up: Roselawn, 6:30 PM Friday night versus Stars (wear blue) Double-header if WIN.image

CoBALTS Bounce Back in AABC

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 27, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
After experiencing a Major Malfunction on Sunday, the Cobalts come back to win a big game over the Champion Allstars 5-1. Keith Becker goes all 7 giving up only 1 hit and no earned runs. Nick-o Fritsch and Aaron Schweitzer were the spark-plugs while Dougy Michelsen and Stiggy came up with big RBI 2-out hits (something kinda new of late for the 'Balts). Cobalts now stand 1-1 in the AABC and 26-10 overall after tonight's win and Sunday's loss to Swingers. In that X-File loss, Paul Krause threw 10 great innings before it all fell apart in a 3-1 extra inning loss. Cobalts stranded a total of 15 baserunners (MALFUNCTION) Next up: Wednesday: Yorkville, 6:30 at Hille, wear Blueimage

Louisville Stallions Visit the CoBALTS

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 19, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Wednesday (Roselawn 7PM, wear gold) the Louisville Stallions blow into the 'Natti for a 9 inning extravaganza with the CoBALTS. The Stallions are a perennial powerhouse in the tough Double I League that includes top level talent such as the Tradewater Pirates and Evansville Outlaws. Results: The Cobalts' bats fell asleep again and the Stallions won 7-0. Keith Becker and Shawn Aichele held the Stallions scoreless but the middle relief broke down which didn't matter as the 'Balts plate nothing in nine. Hats off to the classy Stalions and their Coach, Charlie White. We wish them well in their upcoming NASPB World Series.image
